Greetings!

We are contemplating a trip to Colorado this summer and wondered if anyone here knows anything about the Monarch Park or Garfield Campgrounds near Monarch Pass, Colorado?

I have the basics but would like to know if anyone has personal knowledge of these campgrounds?

I know that they are at 10,500 feet elevation, have water, but do not have Electric (not a big issue, lol).

I have been trying to locate some pictures but to no avail!

I love the Monarch Pass area and am thinking of sitting out July 4th there!

We will most likely hit the Great Sand Dunes NP for a couple of days, then use the above campgrounds for our homebase for our day trips!

Any personal help would be appreciated!

I have stayed in Monarch Park several times over the years,  It is a very pretty campground, sort of remote and quiet, make sure you bring plenty of supplies since it is quite a drive anywhere, of course being so high quite chilly at night.  I would highly recommend it :)

Thanks Leesa!

I appreciate the help, lol! I was so undecided on where to camp this trip that I mailed the Rangers and found out that Garfield is no more...

I might have done differently if I had received your reply alittle sooner, lol, but when I did not hear anything on Monarch Park from the group, we decided to make reservations for a week at Glacier Basin Campground in Rocky Mountain National Park.

The last time we visited RMNP we based out of Estes Park and really enjoyed the incredible scenaries and animals and snow!

My wife says that we will still camp at Monarch Park...just not this trip!

Thanks for the review on the campgroup!
