Took the PU to Red Mt Pass in Colorado. We camped in Mineral Creek. I highly recommend anyone close to Durango / Telluride to check it out. Anyway, on the road to a primitive camp site, really not too primitive, the propane tank bent the support that crosses the frame. I'll weld beefer angle iron across for both the braces. These braces hold the propane tank and battery. Anyone ever heard of this happening?
Thanks
Peter

Hi, Peter.  I'm from your neck of the woods!  I've driven over Red Mtn. Pass many times (not for the faint of heart, is it?), but never camped along it.

I've never had nor heard of the support brace on the tongue bending like that.  I would suspect it wasn't due to the weight of the propane tank or battery, but from a rock hitting it while you drove on the road to Mineral Creek.

You may be right, no one seems to have heard of this. I thought it might have been the rocking and rolling down to the camp site. Either way I need to beef up the cross member and at the same time I'll weld on some leaf spring perches to raise my PU. I'll will be interesting to see how long I last with a regular PU before buying an off-road, trying to bide my time until the prices get a little more reasonable. Heck, your just over the hill LOL!!!!
