LOL, no wonder I don't like hand signals.:)

Tracy, does your Nevada sit that high, or are you sitting that low in that Explorer?  I've never seen you have a problem backing in, especially that great spot there at Elk Neck where you were backing over the cliff...  :p

I use the mirrors to back up.  I do sit low in the Explorer and the AC unit blocks my view directly behind me.  That was quite the site to back into.:D

I can't back up either! I wanted to learn so DH was in back and I proceeded to do the impossible. After about 10 minutes of him yelling "RIGHT" now "LEFT" and I see the pu on the grass not even close to the driveway. Frustrated and pissed I retreat and he tries..... hahahahahaha! He couldn't do it either! Now he's cursing at me for laughing at him! We end up pushing the trailer up the driveway by hand. After it's at home in the driveway, we shake ourselves off and notice about 3 neighbors across the street staring at us. I'm sure they were amused...

That is why I don't like my spotter(s) telling me which way to go.  They don't understand how and when the PU moves.  I do much better using my mirrors and having them prevent me from hitting anything.:)

I agree with tldoc.  I haven't done all that much backing since we've only been on 3 trips, but I am improving.  My DW has finally stopped trying to tell me which way to turn since I kept ignoring her.  Now she points the direction the pup needs to go.  She also keeps me from running into stuff.

The biggest help to my backing into sites has been parking at home.  I have pull in spots in front of the house, and a road wide enough to allow 2 cars to pass with a little room to spare.  I've gotten pretty good at backing into that 90 degree turn and having the TV out of the way of the cars going down the street.  It really helped me get into the site on memorial day, 90 degree into the driveway with trees on each side of the opening.  It was a test for me.

One thing I spent a lot of money, over the years, to learn. WATCH THE FRONT FENDERS. If you are using a spotter in the left mirror as you take the trailer toward the driver side you are going to feed the right fender to the Onback.

Here is a neat one I figured out at 12:30 AM and found myself trying to back a trailer into a narrow pad surrounded by Trailer eating trees and both kids asleep.  I took out my electric lantern and placed it on the pad where I wanted my back driver's side of the corner on the trailer to line up.  When the lantern disappeared I new I was going to far to the left and when I could see it too far to the side of the trailer I new I was too far to the right.  Seemed to work pretty well and I was pretty pleased with myself for thinking about it at that time of morning after a long drive.  (now if the campground host could come to collect a little later in the morning for the poor people who arrived late,  that would be just perfect).

I just pretty much tell DW to stand where SHE wants the driver's side back corner of the trailer once it's all backed up.  If, whilst I'm backing up, I can see her waving both arms, that means stop-it's exactly where she wants the trailer.  On the other hand, if I can't see her and I hear a blood curdling scream, I know I missed.

Works every time.

Just kidding.  I haven't run over her yet.  :)
