OK, I don't want to hijack another thread, so I though I would start a new one.  We are seriously considering a new '06 Jayco 1206.  Yes I know, I said we would go with a Starcraft, but this has all the things we want, and at a better price.  Just a question on price.  The dealer, that is another reason to go with the Jayco, I have heard very good things about this dealer, even with the PUP's they sell being probably 2% pf their business, those I have talked to say they are really good to work with, is quoting me $9,900 for everything, "dealer prep" whatever that is, filling the LP, battery, etc.  Of course tax and license are more.  This seems like a really good price.  Any thoughts?  Also, the warranty says the corner caps, etc o the roof need to be re-sealed every year to maintain the warranty.  Any idea how much that costs, or if they will honor the warranty even if you don't do it?  Thanks for your input as always, and any additional input on this unit, or any general Jayco info is appreciated.  This is a much bigger deal to us than our old Starcraft as it obviously will cost a LOT more!

Dealer prep is most likely another way of saying additional dealer profit.

I have purchased three new campers and never paid it nor was I asked too.

I believe it is part of the dealerships responsibility to go over the popup and make sure everything is done when they get it from the manufacturers.  Seems like they are passing this cost on to customers.

Car dealers use to do the same thing until they started noting that dealer prep was included on the MSRP window sticker.  I haven't seen a dealer prep charge on cars in a long time.

I'd see if they wouldn't knock that off of the purchase price.

By the way, I have had very good experiences dealing with Jayco's customer service.

I also have not paid "dealer's prep and everyone that I know has had a full tank of propane come with the camper.  Shop around and make sure you are getting a good deal before you buy.  Good luck with the camper.:)

Hi there;  I just bought my 2006 Jayco model 1006 3 weeks ago.  I have always had Colemans and have  had great luck with them.  However even although they were brand new ones I never kept them for more than a year.  I went with Jayco because of  there warranty, it really is a great warranty.  If you follow there recomendations.  Sealing the end caps is just caulking you can do yourself.  Buy a tube and SAVE the receipt, or have the dealer do it. I know there is alot to make sure you do so the warranty won't be a problem if there is ever a issue.  I like a one piece tent, family owned business, they make all the tenting at Jayco, do all there own sewing, frame runs to end of floor ( not a few inches like some others) pat. lift system since 1968 !!!!!!, alum. roof AND ceiling inside !!!!  The 1206 just was written up in Camping Life magazine last month I think it was.  Great article, nice review !!!!! the price sounds good to me, where do you live ????? email me at gafscotty@msn.com  thanks, JBird
