I just bought an 89 Starcraft Spacemaster and installed a new Carrier 13.5BTU A/C Unit.  The roof already had one reinforcing bar installed and it is now just about at the front of the unit.  My question is do I need to install another support just behind the unit (which is the heavier end)?

Thanks!

FYI I got an answer from my local Starcraft dealer.  He said as long as it is pre-wired for A/C and has a 14" vent the single support will be fine.

I recently installed an AC unit in my Starcraft and before I did I contacted Starcraft to ask them about the support brackets. They said that BOTH support brackets from the support kit MUST be installed, otherwise you will void any warranty you have on your roof. I told them that my PU was already wired and that I was going to install the AC myself in the precut vent opening. They said that me doing the install will not void the warranty, but I must do the install using the required support bracket kit, which I had to purchase from them. It cost around $70 delivered.

Hope this helps.
