I know this will sound strange but here it goes.

I found a styrofoam cooler that is used to transport organs in. I have put ice in it and 7-10 days later there is still ice in it. They are the absolutely best cooler.

We use the extreme cooler as well, when we are in direct sunlight or get a lot of sunlight we put a solar cover over the cooler and it adds an extra day or 2 to the ice in the cooler.

Another vote for the Coleman Extreme Cooler. I have three of them. Best I have ever owned.

I have not been to Ginnie in years.  I am in Orlando. Took my pop up to Kelly Park aka Rock Springs and one of the cables snapped putting it up. We decided to run home to get a couple of tents.  In the car a tick was on my neck then my thigh then my back. Got in tub with cup of clorox in the water( great for chiggers)  and found 6 more floating. My friend had 3 on her.  We decided not to go in a tent.  We never went in the woods or anywhere except on the gravel part.  my husband laid on the ground next to the camper got none.  Thanks for the info on the cooler that has been my problem . My husband drags it out for me and I stay alone.  My ice only last 1 day.  any one had experience replacing cables? The  parts are cheap, labor is not.  Thanks for the help.

Just dont expect that Coleman Extreme to last long.   We bought one 3 or 4 years ago and it's starting to fall apart.  The problem stems from the lid not having anything to support it when it is in the upright position.  So the weight of the lid is pulling back the hinges from the walls of the cooler, exposing the inside insulation.

When we first bought it, yes, this thing was an icehouse.  But now the quality has gone down hill and it doesn't keep ice nearly as long.

Also, the lid is starting to warp, the ends are coming up a little and no longer makes a good seal.  So I'm sure cool air gets out that way too.

All I've ever used for the last 30+ years is my old green Coleman steel monster.  It'll hold a case of beer and a case of pop.  Takes about 3 bags of ice.  Ice will last about 2-3 days if you keep the lid closed as much as possible.  Takes two people to lift it fully loaded.  It's got metal handels with the bottle opener on them.  Lid latches down.  Makes a good seat for two people.  It's got a couple minor scratches, but stills looks great.  We call it " Old Faithful".  Best cooler I've ever owned.  Lots of history and lots of miles.  I paid something like $12.00 for it on clearence at Goldblatts in 1975.  Not many were sold they said cause they were so big and heavy.
