We are in Ontario Canada and decided to try and use pup-up to go to Florida for 3 weeks + this summer. Looks like Myrtle beach will not be warm enough :(
We are travelling in Fleetwood SunValley with 2 kids under 10. We are not Disney people so not really a big deal for us.. Can some one recommend campgrounds for us? Looking for ocean/water nice sites with electrical and water, lots of kids stuff to do.

Any suggestions would be great! I am not that familiar with Southern US so if we should try some where else- LMK. The drive will be killer so closer the better :)

In the panhandle of Florida...we have in Destin:  Henderson SP
Seaside (between Destin and Panama City Beach):  Grayton Beach SP and Topsail SP
Panama City Beach:  St. Andrews SP (which you can camp on the water)

I just returned from Fort Desoto just south of St. Pete and it was great. We did alot of fishing and hanging at the beach. You can ride bikes around the campground and there was a nice kids museum at St. Pete.

I realize this is probably a little late, but thought I'd give you my 2 cents worth anyway.  We just returned Sunday night from 9 days at Pirateland, on Myrtle Beach.  The weather was gorgeous, only one storm, temperatures perfect, ocean temps. very comfortable!  Bugs were not a problem with the exception of some ants, but they weren't the biting kind, and a little bug spray warded them off nicely.  Pirateland is a great family camping resort with a whole lot to do within the park.  It is right on the beach, and has shady spots to offer a little off from the beach.  There are two pools, a lazy river, mini golf, paddle boats, the list goes on....see their website.  The sites are packed in there though, offering very limited privacy.  But it is a great place to camp for a family vacation to the beach.  We made friends with the family next to us and are now planning future trips together.  Evenings could get a little noisy with people driving by in their golf carts playing music, it is a very active place, but they do enforce the curfew for this activity level (11 p.m). Staying off the main strips would minimize it some. The amenities are kept clean, and there are hot/cold showers in the a.c. bathrooms.

Make sure you take a small, portable grill with you if you go though.  They don't have them at the sites.  We bought a cheap table top, one of those disposable little round trays with the stick-in legs.  I have read about people loving their Smokey Joe charcoal grills.  Don't bother taking firewood either.  No fires.  I guess with the ocean breeze, it is a hazard.  We didn't miss having them like we had expected.  We enjoyed all of the other things to do there.

Our friends have camped at the state park in Port Saint Joe's in the panhandle of FL, and they loved it.  I have not been there.  I would like to give it a try though.  I have heard Crooked River State Park is good too, with huge sites, but I am not sure it is right on the coast.  You can check.  It is a GA SP, right down near the FL line.

I just looked up a campground at Tybee Island.  It is called Rivers End Campground and RV Park.  I might try them as well.

Good Luck, and Happy Camping!
