Quote from: Dee4jafter looking at the options I think "B" will be best.

"F" has sewer hook-ups on one side ... the odds, I think.

yes it does, This would be my choice, but I'm not sure the group would agree
I'm not sure how long the walk would be to the water park. and the cost difference.  I would Do section "B" with W&E before I did the W&E sites in "F"

"F" is only desirable if we get the FULL h/U sites

According to the map, the walk to the main gate (near the water park...yes?) is .6 miles.  Younger kids may need a ride, but mine would all walk easily.  I would prefer full hookups - I don't like to have to worry if I need to dump.  And I don't do gross bathrooms.   My .02 - but W/E won't keep us from coming.  ;)

that's why I like full H/U ..I don't have to worry about one of my kids (not mentioning which one  ) would allow the water to  run.

I wouldn't say the bathrooms are gross, they do get cleaned, it's just there are no sinks to wash hands when your'e done so I wouldn't touch the door knobs!!

so I guess that's 2 votes for "F"  for Full H/U

BTW for those who tried to PM me....I've cleared it out so please resend...

When we stayed at Castias last year and we stayed in "B".  The main gate wasn't far and down the little road, people can go fishing.    The Bass area has a nice grassy area, the road loops around so we could see the kids as they rode bikes.  Bass is W/E only.

Lake Casitas requires a full pay up-front when making reservations, the lady I talked to when I made reservations was helpful in getting our sites together.

During the summer months there is a water park adjacent to the front gate, Bass is close by.  Last year we camped there before the water park opened for the year so I don't know anything about it. The bathroom in the camp loop is primative, but there is a full service bath-house close by.

Hi everyone,

How is everybody?  I haven't been on the board in soooo long.  I was traveling to Florida and also took a big bite out of the Big Apple!  It was awesome at Christmas time.:frosty:

Anyway, I'm confused.  Is the rally in June for Casitas or Buellton, Flying flags?  It seems like I read Buellton first, then Casitas, but I'm not sure.

Thanks!

Buellton is over Prez Weekend in Feb. AND at the end of June.  Casitas is a maybe, at the end of July/early August.

Glad to hear you had a great time in NY!  Can't wait to hear details!

Hey Estelle!

Do we know approx dates for this potential rally?  It looks like several people are interested in the San Clemente beach camping is on July 20-22.

DH is in the midst of arranging his work rally at Lake Casitas for the Spring and 1 rally at a time is enough for him.  If something happens and the spring rally falls through, we might be able to help out with SCC's rally.  If I remember correctly, if there are cancellations or you don't fill all your sites, you have until 2 weeks before your trip to turn the sites in and get a refund (not sure about fees).  If you miss this deadline, you forfeit all money for those un-used sites.

Looks like Casitas will have to happen in August.  I can't say for sure, because they won't let us make reservations so far out.  But let's look at mid-August.  For us teachers, that's pushing it a bit since I know several of us go back before Labor Day.  But I don't want to schedule something the week after San Clemente.  How about Aug. 9-13 (Thurs.-Mon.)?

How about a late June/early July rally?  School is out and the weather is still nice.  The waterpark may open already.

Hi!  I e-mailed you Kristi.  If anyone is interested in my pics of NY, let me know and I'll e-mail you where you can view them from Costco.

I'm interested in Flying Flags.  There's tons to do around the area.  This group moves FAST.:p   It seems like I was just on the board, but since then, another rally has been set for July in San Clemente.  Awesome.

Okay, I called Casitas to find out how to reserve for a group.

First, they're taking reservations through July 2 right now, and I couldn't reserve for Aug. 9 until the 12th of Feb.

I can make as many reservations as I want, but they must be paid in full at the time the reservation is made.  That's A LOT of money to put out -- maybe as much as $2000.  Frankly, guys, maybe if we want to go somewhere other than Pismo or Yosemite then it needs to be a self-service rally.

Suggestions?  Are we back to looking at Shaver Lake -- still a big up-front commitment ($100), and it must be done by February 1.

In California, it's a shame that we have to think so far out to get a group together, but it is what it is.  Let's keep talking ...

Approx how many sites do we think we'll need for this rally?
