Greetings,

well, after successfully installing the CarrierV ac unit 2 weeks ago (DH did it), we opened back up today, to start to load for a trip and found a ginormous nest of ants in the double overhead dome light (YUCK!)   DH took out the lens, unscrewed the housing and found they were residing in the roof insulation, traveling via the wiring..

We sprayed, and left traps in the lens when we popped down today.  we were thinking that they registered as guests the w/e of 6/25 when we had horrid rain storms here.

We cannot find ants anywhere else.  Any suggestions on how to keep them out?  We do not keep any food or sundries in the pu.

anyone else ever experience this?  Thanks
Happy camping!

I  have sprayed my stabilizing jacks with ant spray.  Sprinkling power around any part of the PU that touches the ground will keep ants away.:)

We camped in wet weather last week.  It was grassy too.  I went into the PU one day and found a lovely colony hovering around the door.  I took regular table salt and sprinkled it all over the floor, laying it on thick around the door, the suspected entry point.  Went back in an hour later and they were all gone! I left the salt down for the next day, then swept and put just a bit by the door, no problems with them after that.  Just a quick thing with something you have anyway while camping!

when I lived on the coast, we would have the same problem with our cars when the hurricanes would blow rain for days on end.  the ants are just looking for somewhere high and dry.  talk about frustrating.  It also makes driving a bit of a challenge when ants start crawling up your legs and down your back....I would follow the previous posts about the residual sprays/chemicals around the jacks and tires....because no matter how hard you try, when you think you've got the last one, ten minutes later they'll be 10 more running around.

good luck
