We have seen in the past round safety gates that expand to about 8-10 feet accross, to keep children away from firepits.  However; now that we have a toddler, we are unable to find where we can purchase one of these.  If anyone has any ideas where to find one, or any other suggestions for firepit safety, you responses would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance

But maybe these are just for containing the fire ... maybe it's worth a look-see.

We had one of those expandable "baby gates" when our kids were small, and they worked great for us but they were banned as a safety hazard because I guess someone expanded it too far and a child got his head through the slats and choked. The new safety yards are sections which hook together to make as large or small an area as you need. I know Sears online carries them. The basic price for about 4 sections is $65.00. My daughter has one that she got used at a place that sells used baby furniture. They have about 8 sections. They really work great. Look through Google for "expandable infant play yards".
