OHHHH YEAH!!

Between PA 23 and US 322 on PA 897

You can get there a variety of ways...Go the turnpike to Morganstown and got south (or west??) on Pa 23, and it goes in front of the grocery store part.

You been to lake-in-Wood or Spring Gulch campgrounds??? Well Shady maple is about half way in between.
Has plenty of parking, have parked my Bantam there and ate.

NOT open on Sundays...There is the Buffet, a snack bar/mini cafeteria in the basement, at the Grocery Store across the parking lot there is also another Cafeteria in the restraunt footprint as well as sandwiches and pretzels in the hall outside the grocery.
There is the Goodes Store which is a combo Hardware store and other dry goods...

Need more info???

All three of the resturaunts serve INSTANT Mashed Potatoes, for the record...ya would think that with all the GOOOD PA dutch/Amish/Mennonite cooking that they would peel some taters...

If you go, stay away from them!!!

Are we planning something at Spring Gulch? Lake-in-Wood? Or Brandywine Meadows??

Never been to either.  Dee used to do Spring Gulch, and I almost did Lake-in-Wood, but got sick right before or something else came up.

The owners of lake-in-Wood also used to own Baker's Acres near Atlantic City (Tuckerton NJ), from the looks of the Bakers Acres web site that may not be the case anymore.

Would this be too far from Cape May for our rally next year???

it is 105 from NYC and 60 from Philly... http://www.bakersacres.com/travel.htm

In November we have Veteran's Day Holiday on November 10th AND Nov 7th is a Federal Elelction, so as a State Emp. in DE, we get that holiday off too. I have a 3 day week that week and this early on, my calender is free (no trainings or meetings) so I could make it a LOOOOONG weekend and with luck Raymond may be traveling to Germany or Indiana and I will be as free as a bird (and Jeffrey has not been seen by us or heard from (by us, a neighbor saw him Wednesday) in almost 3 weeks...

Sara's weekend is the first weekend in November, not the second.  That is the weekend that she says is always nice.:)

I can make a long weekend on either weekend!!

It has been about 10 years since I last went to Lake in Woods.  However only about 3 weeks since shady maple.  Another good campground close by is eagles peak.  I will be heading up there in about a month.  Actually the week after the rally.  http://www.eaglespeakcampground.com/

Rick, that weekend they are having an ems appreciation weekend with free sites for ems.  I don't know but maybe it includes you also.  Worth checking out.

Granted from the directions that we are coming in from, it is on the way, but it is actually about half way between Eagles Peak and our area.

Actually the best way to get there is go on up to Reading, follow 422 and I believe that goes up to Woernersville(??? it has been a while since I have been there) where you take a left to eagles peak and you are not too far.  897 is OK but I missed the turn one time coming out and ended up coming down those hills towing the bantam, knowing that I had not brakes.

The last time we were there, Dave set up a regional rally that many of us went to (that was where I met Tracy and Becky face to face). The campground really made a mess of the reservations (actually it was forst come forst served) and they sent DiW around to several sites (including mine) who people who were already in and we were told up front that day that some people would have to share sites.  They ended up moving some of the people NOT with our group and giving them the weekend free to another part of the campground.  I have not been back since, and that was one of the few campgrounds that Raymond actually liked. At that time the seasonals were not all that friendly and the kids ran wild (like with water balloons filling them late at night).  Granted that has been several years ago. Maybe the campground has changed.
