Copcarguy Last weekend in October North South Lake campground NY

Another early Feb trip to Pine Grove sounds fun again!  I plan to be at North Lake to open it up in May, and close it in Oct.  Let's try to go where we've never been before.  The trip to DE was an adventure and it was fun trying something new.  I'm open for suggestions as well...

Well, let's see.  We're planning on Assateague Island, leaving here on Easter Sunday, for 5 or 6 nights.  Don't know what day Easter is in 2007.  We're also planning on the Cape May rally in July.

We could camp Memorial Day weekend, the last weekend of June, Labor Day weekend, Columbus Day weekend and/or Veterans Day weekend, but can't go further than an hour from Corning, NY due to DW's church choir commitments (she's the conductor, so can't miss).  I'd love to see a COTOC trip one of those weekends up in these parts so we could take part.

Our summers from late June to Labor Day are quite open, but quite often play weddings on Saturdays during the summer, so we plan our trips around that.

Is all that confusing, or does it make sense?

Where else do you want to go in 2007???

If your asking me, we like the state parks.  Letchworth, Watkins Glen and Sampson are all big parks in the area.  There are several in the Ithaca area we haven't been to yet, Treman, Buttermilk Falls, Taughannock Falls.  I've heard there's a really nice SP campground in northern PA not too far from us, Ives Run maybe?  It's supposed to be on the Tioga Dam/Hammond Lake area.  That gets into the Pine Creek/Wellsboro area with PA's grand canyon of the east.

We're still planning on Assateauge NS at Easter, leaving here on Easter Sunday, and Sampson SP for Memorial Day.  We'd like to be at the rally at Cape May and figuring to go out for a couple weeks in August, ultimately getting to Acadia NP for a few days to a week.   We may stay a few nights at an island in Lake Champlain on the Vermont side during the Acadia trip.  There are a couple campgrounds on the  island.  Maybe we'll get to see US's version of Nessie.  They've got one in Lake Champlain, you know.  So that would take up 7 or so nights of a 2 week trip.  We'd still be open to other destinations during that time.  We've also got to get down to Pittsburgh to visit our eldest.  Mountain Top Campground was the place to be this summer for that.

One place that I havent gone in about 20 years is Rickets Glenn up near Scranton PA.  I wouldn't mind doing that one.

Scott when would you like to go.  There aren't any hookups at Rickets Glenn and it has been years since I have been there.  I wouldn't mind going back.:)

Well, lets see...... Right now I don't even know what I am doing next week ( other then locust lake ).  I will have to get back to you as I know my cousin is having a wedding next year.  Besides that I should be fairly open for any time.  I will have to get with the boss to find out when that is.

It doesn't look like anything is planned for August.  Why not pencil that in for Ricketts Glen ( not Watkins Glenn as noted at the bottom of the thread ).  As I remember, most of the trails are shaded and there are plenty of places to get wet so that would help cool us down.

How about around Gettysburg, PA? Catoctin Mountians MD?
It is so beautiful around there and I have never camped there yet...
Have you guys been there?

SheBantam

Hi Shelly, Tracy and I were at Cunningham Falls a couple of weeks ago with a group from PUX, which is literally across the road from Catoctin. Yes it is a beautiful area.

Also, what, 3 years ago(??) we had our summer rally (arveeclub eastern rally) at Drummer Boy and did our November trip to Round Top the same year. So we are familar with the area.

Sometimes these trip start out as someone booking and others joining in if the weekend is available. Sometimes it ends up being a pretty big gathering of friends.

I would like to go back to Cunningham Falls SP, MD.  As Paula said I was there a few weeks ago and like that park.  The big question is when?

I have my first 2 weeks of vacation piked.  The eastern rally week in July and the middle week of August for a trip to NH.  Once I pick the rest of my vacation I will post dates and we can see what fits where.  Of course all of the trips don't have to be planned around when I can go.:o

Hi,
There is Pocomoke state park in Snow Hill, MD. The river is black but the water in a glass is clear, its bazarre but we think it may be due to all the cypress trees along the river.  They have a boat dock rent canoes and have a tug boat down at the local town of Snow Hill.
It's a thought...

Tracy - what're the details for the NH trip??  That is one that I would really be interested in.  We pick vaca for 2007 next month and I'd like to have stuff ready.  For my summer picks, I am thinking of taking my b-day week, and then maybe take another week sometime else in the summer to attend one of the bigger rallies...  BTW, I was able to keep my shift and Fri/Sat days off for 2007 as well!

I am glad you are keeping your days off.  I have vacation starting August 11th (?) or what ever the second Saturday in August is.  This isn't a "rally" trip.  It is just Hersheygirl and I going.  It would be nice if you came.  The BIG rally is at Cape May, NJ (see the 2007 Eastern PU Rally section of forum),  It will be held July 7th week.  Those are my only summer days I could get for vacation next summer.  I do have the Friday/Monday for your North Lake trip off, but I didn't make reservations yet.:yikes:
