Hello All, I have a Rockwood Freedom 2290.  It's been great and has all the goodies; AC, furnace, fridge, water pump etc.. What I do not have is a generator.  I Have read all the opinions on the generator issue and I agree when people say they do not want to hear the noise.  I believe there is one exception, and that is at a NASCAR event.  It is simply impossible to get away from the generator noise due to the amount of people there, so they dont worry about it.  As a NASCAR fan and tailgator/camper for the last ten years I don't worry about it either. My question is, does anyone have any suggestions on what type of generator to buy and the smallest amount of volt/watts needed to run my stuff.  I have checked all the owners manuals (no help).  Any suggestions are welcome and appreciated.  Thank you.

The answer to your question lies in the, "needed to run my stuff" comment.

You will need to make a complete list of your "Stuff". Find the wattage on each of the items. Figure out which of the items may be running at the same time and you will have your "Continuous run" requirement (for todays stuff). You will then need to figure out what the "Surge" demand is for those items that may have motors or compressors, like fridge or A/C. These items may double your short term demand to start those items.

Also, don't short change yourself because using the "Step ladder" approach to upgrading generators can become very costly.

Judging by the fact that you have AC, you may want to consider a minimum of 3000w, if you want to run the AC. If you are interested in "Quiet" power, the Honda EU2000I may be a perfect option for you. They only weigh 43# and you can hook 2 of them together for those times that you are camping in the heat and want to run the AC and other "Stuff" at the same time. You may well find that you will only need to take 1 of them with you 90% of the time.

Thanks Wavery, I'm getting o the right track with this thing.  A few more days of checking into it and I should be good to go.
