Hello all,
We own a 1989 Coleman Chesapeake and after a wet weekend ( no leaks) of camping w/the family, We got the little girl home and I started to let the poptop up since of course it was sunny all day today, and let the canvas dry out. As I was lifting the top I heard a popping noise coming from the crank, no big deal I thought since from the first day my wife and I owned it, while cranking it makes this popping noise and sounds as if the crank misses the catch but then gets it on the next rotation and continues to raise the top up. Anyway as I got closer to having the top up I heard a snap and the crank got real easy to turn. The front lift assemblies stayed put and the back end collapesed. I cannot get the front end down as the crank swings freely forewards and back. I need to know if I have broke the lift system (I think I did) and how expensive its going to be to fix from an RV shop. I dont have the time to do this kinda work myself. Any thoughts or suggestions are greatly welcomed or appreciated in advance, thanl you.

I see this is your first post, so at least let me say welcome!

Since your not going to get into the repair yourself, about the only option will be to contact an RV dealer and see what kind of money they would be talking for repairs.

Here's a site that might be useful for information ... maybe you could e-mail the guy and see what he says ~

Good luck.
