Pop-up makes an excellent guest house!

We had family in town over the week-end and the camper provided sleeping quarters for my brother and great-nephew, who thought it was really cool to sleep out there with Grandpa.  Cole is 5 and currently camps in a tent.  Grandpa would camp more, but unfortunately Grandma's idea of camping is Holiday Inn.  Although I did catch part of a phone conversation where my brother was telling sil (who did not make the trip) how nice the pop-up is.  Cole also thought it was a pretty neat place to play.  If you all are wondering, there is no point to this thread other than we did Camp Driveway and had a great week-end.

But, Cole's daddy did tell me they are looking into buying an older pop-up that someone in their church is selling and we already agreed to camp "somewhere in the middle", but probably closer to MN.  Kelly, if you are reading this - that means another possible family for your MN rallies up there, like in 2007.

It was great to almost camp with them, and I'm sad they are gone but we had an awesome time!  Iowa and MN are just too darned far from here.  Sigh.

We took ours to MIL's home and stayed with her for a weekend in her yard.  Didn't cook in it, but it was great.  Her home was too small for all five of us to stay in there with her, so for all concerned it was the best of both worlds.

we have done that before, traveled to NH and set up in my friends side yard, didn't want to stay in there place with my allegeries, (cats & dogs) so it was great. they set us up with a hose, and we empty into their tank,

at our seasonal site we have two sites, one for our large trailer and one for the hybrid which we call the hybrid our guest house, when people come to visit they sleep in that one

We've used it both ways.  We have put family up in it on several occasions, and we have used it at M-I-L more than once (and at Aunt Dot's at least twice).

It's nice because you don't need to be as much of a load on your hosts, and you can bring your own food into the picture.

And once the pop-up wasn't enough. Pjay's graduation you filled the house, filled the camper, Dh and I slept in a tent, and other family was in a hotel. Maybe you need a bigger pop-up  :p

Heck, we used our pup in place of of a hotel when we had our wood floors refinished.  We cooked and slept there and arranged our garage into a make shift livingroom.  The kids thought it was neat for them to watched TV and play in the garage.  Oh! and OH BOY camp in the trailer in our own driveway.  They thought that was so neat.

My BIL and his wife stayed in my new-to-me trailer before we did!  I was a little peeved about it, but the alternative was having them in my house (he would be okay, she not so much) and dealing with their constant bickering.  So when they need to stay, they always ask to use the trailer.

However, last trip they brought their new dog, which I was unaware of because they came in very late, and I had long black dog hair all over everything.  And coffee got spilled on one of my cushions.  This dog has chewed up the inside of their Lexus because the wife insists the dog goes with her everywhere, even though she has to leave him alone in the car while she runs in to the store, etc.  And they had this animal in my trailer!!!!! :swear:

The welcome mat for my trailer rolled up after that last trip.  DH was apologizing profusely.  When it comes to the trailer, he knows who it really belongs to!!!

I offered to take my PU to my Mom's house this summer, for my Aunt and Uncle to stay in.  I have always considered the PU as extra sleeping home or at my Mom's.:)

We just got back from a Pittsburgh trip visiting our eldest.  We stayed in the camper, but we were at a nearby campground.  Her house and yard are very small, and is on a rather extreme hill.  There isn't a flat spot anywhere in the yard, driveway or street to set up the camper.

It was a great trip, we were at 2 Pirates/Astros games.  We tailgated dinner before both games.

tlhdoc...we looked for your brick, but were unable to find it.  We couldn't find a directory of the bricks, either.  We tried but failed.  Did make the attempt, though.

Awesome, Jan!  It's always fun to add more kids to the outings!  You can join us too  ;)

We lived in our PU in my parents' backyard last summer while we waited for our house to be finished.  They have an itty-bitty rambler and while we were there both my sisters (and their 5 kids between them) came to visit.  At bedtime we headed out to our spacious sleeping quarters while they all squished into 2 small bedrooms.  I love my PU.   :D

Clearly, the folks who live with trailer parking restrictions are missing half the fun of owning a pop-up!

We towed our hybrid down to my MIL's last Christmas because they had a full house -- we put all 5 kids in the camper... then my wife and I had the "privacy" of the living room floor  :Y

Of course, I had to read them the riot act, as they treated it like their own "clubhouse" - not normally an issue, but they raided our pantry (ate chips, microwave popcorn) AFTER being told to not touch anything.
