Is it really always booked up quick or is there another way to get a spot?  I've been on reserve america several times, on the 1st of the month in the middle of the month, it's relatively easy to get a spot at different places even right now for Feb.  But Refugio always comes up as having no spots, what's up?  Anyone have the "in" on it?

This is one of my favorites and very popular. I have always had to make reservations 6 mos. ahead of time. I might suggest El Captain next door. it is a lot bigger CG so you might luck out.  :)

I just checked Reserve America. They changed the website and it is VERY confusing (to me).

There are a lot of spaces available (I think) for Sept, Oct and Nov.

If you haven't camped there before, I would recommend getting as far away from the train tracks as possible. See my pics. Pic 031 in the Refugio pics shows how close the tracks are (less than 100 ft) from the site that we had. Other than that, we loved Refugio.

We have reservations at Leo Carrillo for Oct 27-29.

Thanks guys, I'm just wondering if they aren't that far in advance at that park?  I want to try refugio because we haven't....

Leo you already know about, I enjoyed it as a fast get away, it's inexpensive and close by for us in OC.

Check out site 105 or 107 in our pictures, Wayne.  We parked ours sideways and it was so nice to just have the awning out over the dirt and the truck behind.

although next time around I think I'm trying in the 70's along the creekbed for my boys, although I imagine the frogs are loud over there  :eyecrazy:

We camped by the creek last time that we were there (more pics :p ). The grandkids had a blast. They even found some fossils. :D
