We are thinking about going to North Carolina for our long Thanksgiving weekend.  Our favorite place there sold out for condos so we're wondering where to go.  We'd like to be close to if not on the beach and we'll have our dogs with us.  DH wouldn't mind some scuba diving while we're there.

Thanks in advance for any suggestions,

Are you planning on towing the PUP? If so, there are several state C/G's along N.C.'s rather long coastline. The next question would be what part of the N.C. coast are you interested in visiting? One of the drawbacks to the NC State campgrounds is that most do not have electrical hook-ups. I'm down the coast, not too far from the NC/SC state borders, so I'm more up to speed on the s.c. corner of coastal NC. Give me a little more of an idea of what you have in mind before I give away all my favorite places! (LOL)

Hows this for crazy...we'll be going to North Carolina for Thanksgiving.

We will leave Tuesday night (DS does not have school Wed-Fri), and drive like crazy for 4-500 miles.  Stop for 9 hours, then drive like crazy all day Wednesday, total miles about 1,500.

Return trip will be Saturday afternoon and Sunday.

Three thousand miles of driving for 2-1/2 days of visiting, but I'll get to see and hold my granddaughter!

My apologies in advance if this hijacks the thread...

Check out the Carolina Campers website. alot  of it's members camp on the coast and can give you good info on the area and campgrounds. We belong but haven't camped on the coast in a long time, so don't know much about it...

we do Thanksgiving in the Outer banks every year and stay at frisco woods campground or cape woods campground. frisco woods is on the sound side of the island and you can get a site right on the water (no sewer just elec-water), cape woods is in the middle of the island and offers a wind break that you don't get at frisco woods, also there is camp hatteras and the cape hatteras koa in rodanthe (still on the outer banks) camp hatteras has an indoor pool open year round, and both have the beach right over the dunes from the campsite. we prefer frisco woods because it is quieter and further south but we also drive out on the beach and surf fish so we don't need the cg on the beach. oh yeah there are also 2 state park cg's, 1 oregon inlet, and 2 cape hatteras light house.

hope this helps
