Hi,
I might be camping this weekend and I have to be sure to keep my son warm at night (he's handicap and non-verbal). If he gets cold I can't tell cause he cannot talk.
I have two ceramic portable heaters, I usually use only one, but have used two in my old coleman grandview.
I have a new Fleetwood Taos, can I run both at the same time if I need to?
Let me know.
Thanks,
Shelly :morning:

I would make sure to plug the second heater in to a heavy duty extension cord (12 guage grounded) that is plugged directly into the distribution post at the campsite.  The first can be plugged into an outlet in the camper.  The 110v circuit in the camper will likely be able to handle the current draw of two heaters, but by using the outside plug and running the extension cord in, you can make sure that you have enough current to keep from throwing the breaker...  The outside post should be wired to handle that kind of current draw.

Those more knowledgeable may chime and explain better...

Thanks for the info - but what if the campground only has one hookup for each site how do I do it, would I use a power strip or something that hold more than one plug? :book:

Usually, each hookup at the site has a normal 120V plug in, as well as a higher amp plug, so you can have pup plugged in as well as the extension cord.

check wioth the campground to see what the electical service on your site will be,some places do not allow electric heaters at all,,for this reson I purchased a mr heater though buddy, runs on propane,I also do have a couple electric heaters also,,not good idea to use power strips as these are usualy 15 amp and will trip,,use 12 gauge extention cord as sugjested by Chip,,,good luck

Most campground will have 30 amp service and 20 amp outlets. Never found one that had 30 amp without 20 amp outlets. So you can bring a good heavy duty extension cord for the second heater.

The reason you can't just plug two 1500 watt (12 amp) heaters in when you have 30 amp service is all the regular outlets in the trailer are routed through a 15 amp circuit breaker.
If the trailer is AC ready you will have a seperate 20 amp outlet routed through a seperate 20 amp breaker in the converter and you can use that outlet for the second heater.

Our camper has a 20 amp outlet (you can tell if one side of the plug is T shaped) that is on its own circuit.  I can plug one heater into it and a second one into a regular 15 amp outlet.  All of the 15 amp outlets are on the same circuit.  If I run my AC heat strip and 2 cube heaters, I plug the AC into the 20 amp outlet, one cube in to another plug in the PU and the third heater into a heavy duty extension cord that I run to the power pole.:)

Long before I get there, I give in and turn on the furnace...it's not that big a deal!

I don't like paying for propane, when I have already paid for electric.  I also like the white noise that the heaters make verses the noise the furnace makes.  Yes I prefer to save if I can.:)
