What's in your outdoor closet?

Just daydreaming here and wondering what other kind of outdoor toys you might have.  Boats, planes, kayaks, bikes, backpacking gear?

Personally I have two closets full of backpacking gear, three pairs of skis, one pair of snowshoes (Tubbs Trekker), and a 21 speed Gary Fisher mountain bike (which I hardly ever use since I injured my shoulder on a mountain climb two years ago).  Thinking about getting a canoe, just need to learn how to swim and paddle.  :D

I also rent a Cessna Skyhawk 172 (my little airplane!) along with a PZL Koliber (Polish made trainer plane).  Almost finished with my instrument rating...

So, what's in your outdoor closet?

(notice that AB did not start this thread!)

How do you get the Cessna in "Your closet"?

Lots of us have kayaks (us included).

Most of the stuff in my outdoor closet hasn't been used much if any in almost six years since my daughter was born.  Here's the stuff used or acquired in the last year or so:

-Atlas snowshoes for me, Little Bear snowshoes for both 3 & 5 year old kids.

-Wetsuit, long blade freediving fins & low volume mask.  I took a freediving class this summer from world record holding team at Performace Freediving.  From a previous personal best of maybe the deep end of a pool I went to 66' down on a breath of air.  I was able to hold my breath for 4:08 in a static breath hold.

-Malibu Two XL kayak by Ocean Kayak.  Big enough for me and both kids.  In a pinch DW has joined us but I think generally we'll rent another if all four are along.

-Big tire trike for the boy, two wheeler for the girl (training wheels off a couple months back)

Now for the lonely stuff gathering dust post children:
-Bikes, Bikes, Bikes.  Mountain bike, road bike, tandem.  Little use in 6 years.  We used to go on multi week self supported tours.  Been bicycle touring in 6 states, Canada, Ireland.

-Skiis aplenty.  Lets see- 1 pr cross country, 1 pr 3 pin backcountry, 1 pr 3 pin telemark, 2 pr alpine touring, 2 pr downhill.  All mostly unused in 6 years.  Prior an average of close to 30 days per year for the previous 20 years.

-Backpacks, daypacks, stoves, tents, etc.  Same story.

The good news is that I get outdoors a lot with the kids, we go camping a lot and have a great time.  As they get older more adventure gets added.  This spring we spent three weeks tent camping, whale watching, kayaking, etc. in Baja.  This winter we'll do more snow play.

Bicycles:  Mountain bike used mostly for commuting to work (6 mi. each way) and for an annual bike/camp trip of about 200 miles; two Road bikes for the rest of the time I ride which adds about 1500 miles a year.

Canoe which doesn't get as much use as I want;  freshwater fishing tackle that hasn't been used much for a few years.  Saltwater tackle that gets used plenty.

Backpacking stuff--pack, stove, tent, etc., some of which gets used for the bike trip, but mostly waits for sons to get theirs boys raised to the point where we can all go again, and for the first time.

And a popup.  Which gets used alot.

Not sure where an airplane would fit, either space-wise or time-wise.  But what a cool way to spend time...

Bicycles: Two Diamondbacks, a Specialized, a Giant, and a Trek.  Unfortunately, this summer they were dust magnets, and it shows in our waistlines. :(

Bonfire pit: We got it going more than most years, probably because we had a bit more rain and a bit less wind.  Lack of rain and excess wind add up to real fire danger.

Soon to be one less, I want mine! lol

in our outdoor closet we have:
 - A tent(YEAH!)
 - a huge cooler(way to big, but free to us and new)
 - a hikeing backpack child carrier(thingy)
 - a Bike(DH's)

We don't even have a grill  :%

We have 2 ATV's that don't get enough use. They sit on a trailer at a barn that isn't terribly easy to get to. There aren't many areas in Middle Tennessee that I feel are safe to ride, for both of us, and is free. I have thought about selling them, but they are paid for, and we do love them, when we use them. I have also used them quite a bit "for the good of man", by using them to haul stuff, move stuff, and even go to Katrina bitten areas and move trees and brush. So we keep them.

We also have a hot tub that is about a year old. Some might call it recreation, but Holly's arthritis has really been helped. It is about to be replaced with a brand new one (by the company) because of a cracked shell (that cracked after repairs).

We have a Coleman portable fireplace on the patio also. Doesn't get used as often as I'd like. I really enjoy it.

Finally, we also have a second popup, as some of you already know. We are remodeling it for others to use. See http://www.larryandhollycrockett.com/restoration.html

Bikes (mine, hers, kids), snow skis, HUGE cooler from our tent days, a tent, my motorcycle, roller blades, various hunting implements that go boom.  I think that's about it.

Besides the pop-up--

1972 Starcraft 17ft. closed bow boat w/bimini top and 75 hp. Johnson motor.

Sears Craftsman LT11 lawn tractor(my toy around the yard);)

 Lambert snowblower(my son's toy):eyecrazy:, Murray lawnmower(for both of us)

All of Sandy's tent camping equipment, about a half dozen skateboards, 3 bikes of various sizes, 3 different kinds of BBQ grills, and all of the gardening tools.

All but the boat and pop-up are in a shed---I'd need a pole building for all that stuff then......:banghead:

PopUpMomma

Oh my gosh.......we have soooo much stuff!!!
2 bikes
Snow sleds
5 tents...
2 very large containers of camp kitchen items
Fire Pit
Backpack
Four daypacks
Tons of vintage camping equipment
several rolling duffle bags
two large camp kitchens
4 first aid kits
2 colapsible water jugs
2 5 gallon water bottles
salt water fishing complete - 4
fresh water fishing complete - 4
6 camping chairs
anysize tarp you can imagine
Boogie boards
large innertube for the back of a boat - (we don't have a boat)
3 propane heaters
6 sleeping bags
6 lanterns
6 flashlights
4 down jackets
4 hammocks
1 wagon

And that's just the stuff for outdoors.  Did you guess we did a lot of large group camping...girl scouts, boy scouts.....This doesn't include the stuff in the PopUp.  And, I won't even go there.

Sounds like we need to have a garage sale.

Oh my gosh.....we could go into all the other stuff we have in storage.....4 large tubs of halloween decorations, 6 large tubs of christmas, 2 large tubs of easter, 1 thanksgiving tub.....well, I guess it's time to clean.  It makes me tired to think about it. Oh, I forgot about alll the tubs of collectables I have collected.  Don't know what to do with that stuff.  It's old but probably not worth much.  But don't want to send it to goodwill.  Hum...any suggestions?  (I know I got off subject....but according to my family, what else is new)
