Okay guys ...

When do we want to go to Pismo?  June or August?  Who's willing to wagonmaster it?

When do we want to go to Shaver Lake (or don't we?)?  I'll wagonmaster that one, if that's okay with you all.  Other options for a Sierras trip?

We need to begin planning this now, I'm afraid.  Space is at a premium in the summer & if we get lots of folks, we need to get our bids in early.

Thanks!

Pismo is a definite!

Shaver Lake is a curiousity, (I have never been there).  If everyone is for going there, we would like to tag along!  Too bad they no longer give priority reservations for employees, Jeannie's dad has worked for Edison for over 30 years! :eyecrazy:

There's NO WAY on God's green earth that I'd wagonmaster Pismo AND Shaver Lake.  And if Pismo is close to the end of school you might as well just lock me up & throw away the key.

Shaver Lake appears to be the kind wagonmastering job that will be done long before we get there, so I'd be able to handle it with school.

So, get those nasty notions out of your head and let's get some dates on the calendar.  :D

Pismo in June !!!...... even tho they did get us together in Aug  they won't give us any considerations. the last time we went in June they still wouldn't tell us the individual sites but they gave us a block of numbers and Scott gave them a list of who to put near who if possible. The key to making this not a total nightmare for the wagonmaster is:

1. EVERYONE  ARRIVE and DEPART on the SAME DAY the arrival day is the   most critical.

2. have it in June (the weekend of the 22nd all the kids should be out)

We personaally would love to go on both trips but do to time constrictions you may only be able to plan 1 trip.  Pismo or Shaver Lake.  It sounds like Pismo needs to happen the end of June to be able to get a group reservation and I think Shaver would have to happen that same time too.  We have been to Shaver Lake and give it a BIG thumbs up but it is VERY popular.  If you choose to go in July or August (which is a better time to go because the water will be warmer) you may not get sites.  They take people wanting to stay a week or more as priority.  When we went 2 years ago, we sent our reservation in January 1 for a week stay and when they called us back with what was available, we had 3 sites to choose from.

I've spoken with the Shaver Lake people & it sounds like we'd have a good shot at getting in any time in the summer IF we get our deposits in by the Feb. 1 date.  Heck, the worst that could happen is that we wouldn't get in & they'd give us our money back.

If there are other options I'm open to hearing them.  I'm not married to Shaver Lake, but it might be nice to try something different.  Getting into the Wawona campground in the park would be nice, but it's dry camping -- no honey wagon, either.  And I don't think they have showers.  Pretty rustic, but pretty.

See, talking about it early IS a good thing!  ;)

We are up for both Pismo and Shaver. Pismo in June is great. Shaver - July or August is great too!

We will be up for both ..I think shaver in june and pismo in august.  the mountain/beach seems better earlier and beach in august.  But What ever you guys want well go along with it.

we may do shaver in July or aug. I can't make any definate plans at this time.

My kids asked me if we were going to do a "super" trip this year. If I'm still employed with my current job ( I'm hoping I am) a 2 week trip will be unlikely but a shorter trip really far, to a cool place they haven't been may make them happy.

Kevin is starting HS next year and he wants to do Band & water polo so they may have stuff going on. Darn it!! Life is getting in the way of camping ;)

We don't finish up our school year until Friday, June 22, this year.  And, we have a wedding to attend the following weekend (already got our "Save the Date" card).  We could leave on the 22nd for somewhere....

Maybe we need to do a poll & see how it shakes down.  Lori -- help me out here please ... :D

We are up for both camping trips.  A grandma from pre-school mentioned Edison last year and gave it a thumbs up.   It sounded like a nice place to go.
