Quote from: Sue HardeeSeems to be the opinon of some people that Pismo is not the greatest, I agree, maybe we could camp near to pismo there are a lot of different campgrounds in the area, Lopez for one...but there are many more that would be willing to accomadate us.
Depending on how far north we are willing to camp, there are lots of other places to camp

I found Lake San Antonio.  www.lakesanantonio.net
A Monterey CO park, hook ups and lake boating, etc.

Further north is Santa Cruz/Monterey KOA

Just some thoughts..

We've been wanting to go to Lake Lopez sometime!!

Well, while you all are sitting down there & chilling out, think about where we could go & come up with some sort of a plan.  The most creative ... "things" ... happen over drinks, you know!  ;)

griffsdad

We're OK with anything if the group decides that Pismo is out.

Recumbentman

I have been to the following CG's and can highly recommend them
Lopez lake next door to Pismo, they have a great water park with a giant water slide
and
Flying Flags near Solvang
this is a very upscale CG with pool and hot tubs, very clean

both offer group discounts  :)

Well, here's another place on the coast that looks promising.  Still a bit pricey, but not outrageous.  It's in a nice location -- halfway between Monterey & Carmel, so there'd be lots to do.  Weather would be nice, too.

We were in Santa Cruz this summer and there's TONS to do.  We had a blast.

I know exactly where that's at.

Mosslanding Looks nice it reminds me of Pismo......We'll go along with the group

We are up for Moss Landing too. If anyone would be interested, I'd be willing to charter a yacht and take a group out sailing.

I can rent a 2000 Beneteau 46' for $500 per day. http://www.pacificsail.com/bareboating.html

Moss Landing looks very cool, but it defeats the whole purpose of a "meet-in-the-middle" rally.  Pismo was originally chosen as a location that was equi-distance for both NNC and SCCampers.  Maybe Moss Landing can be its own, spearate rally....

....but for our meet-in-the-middle, summertime rally, a small contingency of SCCampers talked it over this past weekend at Campland and thought Lopez Lake might be worth a try.  It is still approximately the same distance as Pismo--just a little further East (about 30 minutes or so). Here's the Web site: http://www.slocountyparks.com/activities/lopez.htm

I have volunteered to wagonmaster this one and will ask one of the super moderators to set up a thread in the rally forum for us.  (Anyone have witty name for this rally?  I got nuthin')  I'll provide a link when the rally thread is created.

Some very precursory details SUBJECT TO CONFIRMATION WITH THE CG:

The rally will be Friday, June 22nd through Monday June 25th.  If you want to arrive any earlier or later, you make those reservations on your own.  I am looking at reserving the Quail Loop.  I called the cg today (Internet reservations aren't working yet) but had to hang up after being on hold for more than 20 minutes.  I'll try again tomorrow. Hopefully, I'll be able to get most, if not all, 48 sites.  If not, I'll be gunning for Bandtail (39 sites) or Blue Jay (31 sites).

Price per night w/full hook ups (w/e/s) is $27.00/night.   There may or may not be a group rate. I'll ask when I get through to the cg.

Wildlife is abundant, and it's not uncommon for wild turkeys and deer to come pay you a visit. There is a water park nearby that the kids will enjoy.  Apparently, there are also mountain biking trails in the cg and rumor has it they rock!  Maybe we can get a group ride together.  Of course, anyone who wishes to organize any activity for kids or adults is more than welcome to do so.  In the past, we've had craft activities for the kids, and DO demos, digital photography seminars, homebrew demos, and wine tasting for the "bigger kids."

There will definitely be a dinner potluck on Saturday evening.  The breakfast potluck may be up for discussion.  I'll post a poll and everyone can weigh in with their opinion--that's one thing this group never lacks. :D

Okay, this rally name just came to me:

"Life is Good at Lopez" Rally
Feel free to submit your own suggestions if you don't like this one.

BootheBunch

I like the name!  I am excited!!!

We'd be coming up on Friday (my last day of the school year)...but, I think we'll stay until Monday or Tuesday (and skip the Sunday traffic!).
