Camping Coxes

Quote from: griffsmomThe Pismo-nee-Lopez Lake Rally will now officially be at Flying Flags in Buellton--assuming they still have space!
Our friends who came to Temecula with us have gone to Flying Flags several times and they really like it. Now we'll have to scope out the area and see what's nearby other than Solvang. I think when we stopped there on our way to Pismo we saw signs for a casino nearby -- that way Dave and crew can lose big money at the card tables!

And Lori, you know how the saying goes -- if you plan it, they will come (no matter where you have it).

You're right, Trina; Solvang is just a hop, skip and a jump down the road.  The  beach is about 10 minutes south on the 101, and there is a scenic paved trail that is about 2.5 miles, one way, and runs from Refugio cg to El Capitan cg.  Griffin, Dave and I rode it on our bikes when we were there last May.  Other than having to push-ride Griffin up the hills, it was a lot of fun and I was impressed little Griffy actually rode 5 miles!

If wine tasing is what the doctor ordered, Chez way and Darksiders can fill you in on the local wineries, having tasted at most of them the last time we were there.  On second thought, better ask Karen.  Jeanne may be a little cloudy on the details. ;)

Here's the Web site for Flying Flags  Keep your fingers crossed that they'll still have space for us.

I can believe Lopez is full..you would think 8 months would be enough. most places now are taking reservations 1 year in advance and some 2 years. I would still like to do Lopez sometime. Maybe in the spring we can book for 2008!!!

Flying flags does look nice and still up

Okay, I've got 30 full hook-up sites at Flying Flags for the weekend of Friday, June 22 through Monday, June 25.  It is Flower Festival Weekend, aka a holiday weekend, so we will not get any group discount.  We will, however, get freshly baked cookies upon arrival. :)

The group coordinator won't be able to tell me the actual fees until about March, but we're looking at somewhere in the realm of $50.00/night.  I'm sorry that may somewhat steep for some of you, but this was all I could get.  At this point, I don't know how sites will be assigned--whether its something we do, or whether they assign them based on size of rig, etc.  I also don't know which sites they'll give us yet.  The contract is in the mail, and I'll know more details once I get that.

Hey!  I definitely resemble that remark.  The last couple of wineries got a bit blurry...yikes.  However, on a positive note, I'm now a wine club member at Sanford.  Just got my first shipment of Chardonnay last month.

The question is...do you remember signing up for it? ;)

That's the point...It was a nice surprise!  Karen kept on telling me that we didn't have to drink all the wine that was offered...unfortunately, I didn't listen to her because I just didn't want to put any good (or bad--as if I could tell the difference) wine to waste.  I'm very grateful to Wes who acted as our designated driver.

So I spoke to Darksiders today and she hasn't had any luck getting on the boards--I just emailed her to let her know that Flying Flags is in June now instead of February.  Now we need to decide where we should go for President's weekend....

There's nothing that says we couldn't go there in February too. I certainly was't trying to steal Karen's thunder.

ok....geezo-peezo, I finally got into this site!!!  I've been having the worst luck lately, either the site was molassas slow, or just w/in the last few days, i couldn't get on at all.

anywho, I see that Flying Flags is is a go for June, the question is do we want to go there for President's weekend in February, too????
so, by show of hands (by way of  posts), let me know.
I'm waiting for a call back from FF's group coordinator for site availability.

some info on FF cg: It's very nice...grassy, shady full hookup sites, no fire rings, but you can rent firepits or bring your own
some of the amenities are: heated pool, indoor and outdoor spa, satelite TV hookups, wi-fi, "state of the art" child playground, convenience store, diner/snack bar and laundry

some local info: walking distance to 2 or 3 restaurants, Solvang is just minutes away, a large selection of good wineries to visit (the campground provides a great map to navigate the area), the beach (Gaviota) is about 10 minuites south, as Lori stated
 here's the link:  www.flyingflags.com

If anyone has any other cg.s to recommend for Prez weekend, please chime in and I guess we'll take it from there
 K  :)

P.S: Look for a new thread on this rally.

We're in for Prez Weekend!
