My wife and I have the opportunity to buy the above camper for a reasonable and fair price. It is 500 or 600 miles away, however. What have been the experiences of you all on here who have had Dutchmen products? Do they hold up well? Can you still get parts? NADA shows 2001 as the last year of models.

Thanks!

How much do you know about the camper?

A "reasonable and fair price" can only be determined after a very close inspection. Some older campers can be very expensive to bring up to par.

The one thing that you will want to be sure of (IMO) is that the wheel bearings are serviced before you tow a trailer, that you know very little about, for 500 miles. If the trailer has been sitting for 6 months or longer, after being serviced, I would do it again.

Personally, I wouldn't take the previous owners word on that particular subject unless he showed me receipts from a recent service. If it were me, I would take a set of wheel bearings, seals and cotter pins with me when I picked up the trailer. I would either take it to somewhere to have the bearings serviced or do it myself, before towing. If you don't need to replace the bearings, you can always return them.

I agree with you on the reasonable and fair price. I just meant that the price offered is in line with NADA for that year model and the options it has. We would still have to look it over carefully before committing to the purchase. So many campers on eBay and elsewhere are selling way over NADA, or at least are listed at such a higher price.
