You know that one place you will go to know matter what. We have a great state park about 15 minutes from my house. Its quiet, clean and peaceful. So thats ours. I can leave the dogs home still check on them, go to work,  and still enjoy camping. We will be traveling with our camper as well taking all  our vacation in our Elmo but we sneak off to this state park every chance we get. Anyone else?Just curious

cartooncaracterAlthough our two closest state parks are usually filled to capacity on weekends throughout most of the year,we are fortunate to live ten minutes from one, forty from the other. We mostly settle for day hikes at those parks, but when there are spaces,we sometimes get in. The local park we stay at most frequently is a KOA.It s
about 45 minutes away from our house. Nice place-clean,friendly,ocean is a short walk away.Guess that we could call any of the above a " home campground" .

CampinCrazy

cartooncaracterWe have two campgrounds within 25 minutes of home.  Perfect when we HAVE to get out and camp, but have a soccer game or something we have to attend over the weekend.  Best of both worlds!

cartooncaracterWe have a SP just 5 min. down the road. So we can camp any time we like. [:D][:D]

cartooncaracterWhen the girls were younger, we owned a wooded lot in a nearby township, (thinking we would someday build on it, but changed our minds). Anyway, we would let the popup parked on that property, and go there to camp!  Unfortunately, we didn t have running water there, but home was just 30 minutes away![;)]

cartooncaracterMy home CG is PUT s!!!!![:D][:D][:)].

Honestly, I don t get to camp as often as I would like, so I don t really have a favorite campground.  In fact, I like to go to different ones as often as possible because I like the variety.  Once I ve been to every campground possible in my area, I suppose I will select some favorites then, but probably won t be able to narrow it down to one (....but maybe 2 or 3).

I was just checking out some places this morning to plan another camping trip this summer and I think I found about 5 or 6 six places I would like to try.  Problem is, I am only going to end up being able to pick one or two.  What a dilema.....

Oh well......sigh........So many CG s, so few summer days!!!!  [>:][>:]

Sometimes I wished I lived in Florida or California so I could camp all year!!

Starcraft Dad

cartooncaracterOurs is Proud Lake State Park.  It is actually within walking distance of my home.  About a 45 minute walk.  We have every other weekend reserved in the summer which we do every year.  Never miss a weekend unless it is an illness or something like that.

cartooncaracterDan Nicholas Park about 20 minutes from home.  It has lots for the kids but the CG is in the woods and feels like you are out in the middle of nowhere.

cartooncaracterOurs is Ricker Pnd State Park in Groton State Forest, VT! It s only 1/2 and hour away and we can camp and go to work (or not!) from there! No electricity, but it s clean and has good showers!

cartooncaracterWe have a nice SP with in 30 minutes of home.  We enjoy camping there.  One of the nice things is we can spend most of Sunday there and still get home to clean up the PU.

cartooncaracterHere in Maryland, I have two state parks within 20-40 mins from home. I have to say that I do not care for either one of them for lack of care by the state. We do go to one right on the PA MD state line which is about 45-60 mins away. This one is a private CG. We try to go out three weekend a month. Notice that I said try. I will say in this area, and what I am about to say is due to reserach, we are loaded with camp grounds within a 2 hours radius. [;)]

cartooncaracterHillsdale is like 20 mins from the house.  It s a COE State Park.  Restrooms are always clean with private showers.  Lots of spots with shade (there are some newer loops, but the older ones are very well maintained).  Full hookups on the lake.  They don t take reservations, so you can show up early friday and still get a good site, and it s off the beaten path, and not near any touristy spots, so it really never seems that crowded.  The park is there mainly for the lake to go fishing and boating, but do have some trails for horses and bikes.  The best sign is the loop we stay at..the host stays in a PU, so that s a good sign.

cartooncaracterWe enjoy East Fork SP about 30-40min from our house.
