Talking with co-workers, they have already made their reservations for Vail Lake for 2007.  They also said that things are already pretty filled up.

Thoughts please

No thanks from the JimQPublic clan.

What's the concensus on having a rally at Vail Lake Again.  I know it's festive and fun but they seem to let things go wild.  We try to keep our kids close at hand to minimize problems but those golf carts have to go.  I believe we are up to going there again, what do you guys think?

Recumbentman

we would rather not go there again  :(  high prices for what you get.
The SCCAMPERS can have the Halloween theme and all the other activities, no matter were we camp  :D

BootheBunch

We will go wherever!  Except to that chigger place again! (Guajome).

Lisa

griffsdad

We will go anywhere the group decides.

TheViking

I say Vail Lake !!!   That gives us all exactly 10 months to buy a golf cart and teach our 10 year olds how to drive them.  What do you think??

LOL!  I wasn't sure what to post, but THAT is funny Brian!!!:D

We are willing to take a wait and see approach depending on when it is and where it ends up.  I agree that, except for the really overpriced hayride, we all do our own thing and make our own fun whereever we go.  Personally, I didn't like how Vail Lakes handled just about everything this year, however, we'll consider doing whatever the group decides.

I'll address the elephant in the room and just say that Dee, Lori and myself have all wagonmastered this.  I will gladly share my files - all would be needed is to cut and paste and change names, dates, activities, etc., but the skeleton is all there.  Lori did this for me and it was very helpful.

If you wait to collect the money until late summer and, in the mean time, check the board every 48 hours to update reservations, etc., it is very easy to stay organized and manageable.  Finally, ASK FOR HELP, many people like PopUPMomma, Boothebunch and Viking (among others) stepped up and helped with our activities.  I'm sure others would be willing to do the same next year!  IMHO, it is a challenging job to wagonmaster, but people will step up if you just let them know what you need.

Whatever campground is decided, one would need to be able to reserve a minimum of 26-30 spaces (we had 26 confirmed and paid for sites last year).

 Well that's my 2 cents.  :)

We have not made a decision. We love the group, but feel it's way overpriced for what we get. If they can't fix the broken restrooms and have better security, we will think twice about going there again. Just my nickels worth.Moose

We didn't attend this year because we thought that the prices were out of line.

I agree with Recumbentman, "The SCCAMPERS can have the Halloween theme and all the other activities, no matter were we camp".

I also agree with Lisa, "We will go wherever! Except to that chigger place again! (Guajome :yikes: )."

How about a nice "Reasonably priced" beach campground, like Doheny, Refugio or Leo Carrillo. I know that some are less comfortable with dry camping. I'd be happy to share my (quiet-Honda) generator with a few other folks :D . Each of those places has nice showers and water available.

I don't want to sound cheap but we like to camp a lot. Like some others, we have a budget. If I can camp twice as many times per year by going to State CGs at 1/2 the price of private CG, that's what we do.

Just my 2 cents too............(welllll....maybe 1 cent) :sombraro:

Recumbentman

I thought I might try listing some alternate CG's to consider. I have not been to these CG's. but I would like to give them a try.  :)  these are in the general area of Temecula

Lake Perris
Santee Lakes
Lake Elsinore Marina
Yucaipa Regional Park

any other suggestions !!!

darksiders

for my 2 cents...we like Vail Lakes...sure the golf carts and one rowdy group annoyed, but hopefully, the cg got enuf complaints and will address these issues. this was the first time we had problems like this, shouldn't we give 'em another chance?!

we have always had a lot of fun there, i know we make our own fun with our group activities, but they have good stuff, too.

Azusateach

I like what Vail Lakes could be.  I don't like what it was in October.  It's pricey, which wouldn't be so bad if things were kept in better order.  Not having a working bathroom is downright wrong at the prices we pay.

I go not for the campground, but for the friends.  Don't participate in CG activities, so that's not important either.  I like hookups.  Makes my life easier, even though I've got a generator.

So wherever the group ends up is okay by me.  Some places would be more okay than others, but I just want to hang out with you all!

I looked at the Lake Elsinore site -- looks nice.  Is it worth having someone taking a little field trip over there to check them out?

Moose, you mentioned a couple of places up your way.  Would they be able to accomodate our group?

If we decide on Vail Lakes, maybe trying another area would be better, but we'd have to jump on it now, I imagine ...

kimrb266

I believe we've already tried Yucaipa Regional Park. I personally didn't care for the campground. The spaces are spacious but they are spread out and then
again, they have sites where 2 or 3 trailers can share. They have hook-ups but their bathrooms are funky. They they are like toilet stalls hooked together with a roof above. They are open/airy because they are outside. We also had complaints from other guests that the groups' kids were unruly.

Just my 2 cents.

I go right past Lake Elsinore, at least, once a month. If anyone is interested, I will stop by and check it out. I could post pics on my Webshots page.
