C'mon !!!  You guys are making it real difficult to buy that Golf Cart I've been wanting.  Hey, but if we go to Lake Elsinore, and it's not real cold during the day, I might just bring a Jet Ski.

BootheBunch

Ah...the campground isn't all that important to me...well, I do need water and electricity.  BUT, Lake Elsinore does have an outlet mall---so, that is a positive in my book!!

I started this rally, so it's sort of my "baby," but I was really disappointed with VLR's lack of response to the problems we brought to their attention and the crowd that the festival seemed to draw out from under a rock. We do make our own fun so it seems like the people we camp with are more important than the ch where we camp. I guess I'm trying to say that I would be willing to try something else.

So, ladies and gentlemen, in an attempt to keep with the theme of the season...for your camping consideration.....I give you....

Calico Ghost Town Camping Moose has stayed at this cg and can give us a first-hand report. Here's the cg map

They offer a ghost haunt weekend and full hook ups for $22.00/night. (I'm with you, Lisa) Here's the press release for Halloween weekend. Sounds like fun!

(so what do you think?)

What's the temp. like out there in October?  I've got AC (and NOT just because I've got a new HTT), but for those who don't will it be bearable?

If that's okay, I'm okay.  I'm game for anything new and not too far away or over BIG mountains!

TheViking

Isn't this place up in my neck of the woods?

there is also Woods Valley and KOA metro...They all have activities planned
/these are in our neck of the woods...S.D.

We love ghost towns. Bodie is our favorite but Calico is good too :D .

That neck of the woods can have extreme weather conditions (either way) in October:
http://weather.yahoo.com/climo/USCA1264_f.html

It's not uncommon to be in the 90s during the day and high 20s to low 30s at night.

Maybe that's why it is a "Ghost Town" :p .

The San Diego KOA is closing in April of 2008.  :-(  We could get one year in there!  And, I did hear they do some activities for Halloween.

We've always camped at Woods Valley in October, until going with you this year.  The campground itself doens't do activities, but there's two places very close by that do.

Bates Nut Farm (1 mile down the road) has a wonderful setup every weekend in October with a huge Pumpkin Patch (we brought home a 67 pounder one year, just to beat out the neighbors!) and they have hayrides, bouncers, face painting, mazes, barbecue.  One weekend will be a car show, another will be a craft show, another an antique swapmeet, etc.  We love it there and have taken friends who love it.

The Bell Gardens has a tractor ride throughout the farm, as well as the train ride that is always there.  They make a spooky walk-through in their hiking area, but nothing jumps out at you, so it's pretty tame (hanging ghosts, glowing eyes, etc.).  It's also a great place to go that's within about 5 miles of Woods Valley.

They campground books fast for October because of these events, so we'd have to move quickly.  There are hook-ups everywhere but Goat Meadow, and that's the only area with grass around.

Calico Ghost Town is fun but the rv sites are close, no shade and all dirt. Jim and Carol were there with us when we were there for the re-inactment at Pre Day. It rained and a lot of mud. No group area.

That looks cool. We're game :D .

I'm more inclined to go for Woods Valley ...

Stuff in/near the desert (even high desert) makes me nervous.  Plus, all that dirt ... Jed in the dirt ... possible rain (tho' I doubt it) ... I don't think so.

If Moose isn't impressed, I'm not impressed either!

We've had Wood Valley on our list for awhile....I think Lori was the one who had told us about it way back when. The Wild Animal Park is closeby, I think, too!

However...on the question page:
Is Woods Valley a good place to party?
Not really.  We're a family park and we ask everyone to respect our 11 PM silent hour.

I think that all CG have that rule (don't they  ). I'm glad that they do. That way they can ask trouble makers or drunken wild partiers (like Dee :p j/k) to leave.

The only noise that they will get from me after 11:PM is loud snoring :J

Now.........having said that........my wife can get quite rowdy late at night. :-()

Oh ya.....and then there's Doofus :yikes:
