I generally hook up solo, and have found this gadget to be a wonderful aid in my endeavors.

A 'V' shaped metal frame fits over the hitch ball, and one carefully backs up to the hitch so that it is within the V range and the V guides the hitch over the ball.  (Yes, one needs to back carefully, stopping to check alignment during process)

It ran me about $50, but is worth every cent - as it makes my life so much easier.

Just thought I'd share this with you.

We've had one for a couple of years now... It even enables you to be able to hook up without the aid of another person.  After trying other hookup helps, this one has been a keeper.

I have one also. I like the fact that it protects your rear bumper if you over shoot your position and I like how you can be off a couple of inches either way and the "V" plate will move the tongue into the correct position.
Note that this will cause your PU to move backward slightly, so what I do is move my wheel chock back an inch to allow this to happen. A must have if you hook up solo !!

not sure that would work on my HTT.. without a front wheel I'm not sure I could get that much movement without bending something

so I don't back up too far, I line up my weight dist. bar with the the end of the trailer and put it on the ground where I can see it when I back up

that would've been cool to have when I had my PU
