I met with Dee today and Bob, I hope you don't mind, but I'd thought I'd help you get this up and running.  It would be easier if we could vote for more than one option, but we'll have to make it work this way.

Azusateach

I voted, and I'm not one to keep my voting secret.  :D

I'd like to go to Ventura RV, largely because it'll be cooler than Buena Vista in October.  I know Dee, I have AC, but everything's more pleasant when the temperature is less than 85.

With all due respect ... for those of you who will go wherever Bob plans, I think y'all are placing a lot of responsibility on him to make a decision.  What if he picks the place in Kernville (not that you would, Bob).  IMHO, we need to pick a place because Bob said he'd wagonmaster regardless.

There.  I said it.  Hope you're all still my friends ...

I should of said something earlier when I saw this CG mentioned. since I live in Ventura and know this CG very well. I have to tell you that it is right next to the 101 freeway and  it is very loud there with the freeway noise. just wanted to give my 2 cents

They've also had problems with the homeless that sometimes live near the Ventura River. The authorities periodically sweep through there, but our Scout troop stopped going to the campground across the street because of the problem.

Well.  Who knew?

I'll change my vote to Buena Vista, then.

Still friends?

TheViking

Im still down with Buena Vista.  It wont be hot there at that time of the year. And if it is, we can swim in the Lake that will be 40 feet from our camper door.

OC Campers

I voted for Buena Vista.  I know I am an ex-sccamper but if it is north of the grapevine, there is a chance we can make it.  I am thinking this cg is only a 5-6 hour drive.

Our Family and the Allen family might be able to go to Newport Dunes.  But still too far for us for a non-holiday weekend.

FYI - Buena Vista gets a "7" rating in the West Coast RV Camping book by Tom Stienstra and published by Foghorn Outdoors. For those of you who have been to Lake Casitas; for comparison; - they also got a "7" rating.

Is this campground visible off the 5 frwy.?? I think I've passed it a couple of times while traveling up north.

Buena Vista Lake is not visible from the 5. If memory serves, you might be able to see a large cluster of trees way off in the distance but thats it.

Dave, since Iam from Arizona, and have experienced these, I think what you saw is called a Mirage. LOL

THAT would be awesome...I know the kids want to see your kids again!!!
and it would be great to see you!!! My friend Julie just asked about you guys...we sure had fun at Siskiyou. the part with being alone with the kids & The Bear I could've done without tho :J

I voted for whatever Bob picks since all the other campgrounds listed were fine. I thought BV sounded nice.

as far as south of the grapevine, of course I would love that, but my unselfish voice says it's only fair for Bob not to make the big drive for once. I usually leave so I don't hit a ton of traffic but I'm 95% sure that won't happen this time. so I will just hit the road when I can  and make sure Bob has a beer waiting for me when I get there :!

I'll take a picture of this CG next month. It's probably a different CG, but from mapquest Buena Vista does seem to be not far from the 5.

Brian - the mirages you were seeing, were they induced by Cactus Coolers???    :)

Dee can't wait to have some more!! Yum Yum.

I agree. I will be meeting with the fish squad CEO tomorrow nite (our last meeting of the year) to discuss future meeting dates and to make Cactus Coolers so we stay in practice and don't forget how to make them.
