Quote from: griffsdadWe're up for Mexican food!!! I'll have some menudo with my torta and bean and cheese burrito. Yum Yum. Let the fireworks begin!!!!

  Hey guys,
This is the low down on the two mexican resturants in Fillmore!
The first one is the older of the two. Its located @ 563 Ventura St. in Fillmore. They do not take reservations. They could seat 10 of us at one time. The train station says they have really good food. I believe this is the one that people are talking about. Maybe we could just take shifts in going there on Saturday night after the train ride. The name of the resturant is Vallarta. Prices range from $7.25 dinner combo to $10.99 combo specials.
The second place is located @ 1305 Ventura St. in Fillmore. This is the newer of the two. With a weeks advance notice, they could seat 40 people together.
They also don't do reservations. I would just have to call to plan it with the manager. The name of it is El Pescadora (sp?). He did not want to discuss prices.
We probably should vote for either potluck dinner or mexican resturant. It could come down to a compromise of just doing take out.

Quote from: TheVikingBrandon, Dave M, and Myself will be partaking in the consumption of a GRANDE Bean Burrito smothered in red sauce and Jalapeno's & washed down with beer.  Following this, we will be having a Campfire Fireside chat where we will be sharing the fruits of our labor.  All are invited to join in.  C'mon girls, you know that we know you have it in you.
Yes, but we don't give off any odor - that'd be YOUR m.o.!!!!:p

We would like to offer another option.  If this is going to be dinner on Saturday night...we know a great Mexican Restaurant in Santa Paula not too far from the campground that has a big room upstairs that would most likely hold all of us, and we can do take out too..the food is great and I know the owner...prices are reasonable...Bob, what time is the train ride???

 To all of you going:
I am going to put this out so we can see if this is doable!

Sat. morning is the pancake breakfast @ 8:00am.
Eating and socializing about an hour. Clean up half an hour!
Go to the train station for the 11 am departure time. All who are going must go at this time only. You can come back at any time. The trip out there is about 20 minutes. Do the scene, probably a couple of hours.
Now I am going to leave lunch to everyone on their own. We get back around 2:00 pm. At 2:30 we can do the SCCamper raffle! Be sure to bring items to raise money for the projector.
Do the craft project at 3:30 pm, lasting an hour and half. At five, do the trick or treating for the kids from trailer to trailer, about an hour. At roughly 6 pm. get ready to go to dinner @ the Mexican resturant in town. Mary has come up with one that could seat us. I hope she knows that if we all went, there are 45 adults and 30 kids so far! I know that not everyone is going to go. I want feed back on what you guys really want to do about dinner. Being that the day is going to be busy, most do not want to cook a potluck dinner.
Then we come back at 8 pm. and have the judge view the decorated trailers. Better at night time! Prize's to be awarded to the "Scariest" & the "Funniest".
At 9pm. it's time for the campfire and ghost stories!
  So what are your thoughts/ideas?

Jamesdad

You about said it all Bob, good planning.

  Dee,
To my partner in crime, back on post # 182 you said no problem to 8:30 am breakfast. So if I changed the time to 8:30 would you still come? I know things change from day to day.
Are you still going to be able to go to costco for the food? PM on your thoughts.

No potlucks?  Pancake breakfast and dinner out?  I don't know about all that.  Gotta have a potluck.  Camp cooking is my favorite part of camping.

I think we'll skip going out on Saturday night- It will be a busy day with everything else going on. May run into town on Friday and grab something to bring back.

We would be happy to watch Jed during the breakfast :D . I am allergic to wheat. Pancakes aren't exactly on my diet :p .

Wavery, how much do you charge for dog sitting?  We got a chihuaua (spelling??  ha ha) in July.  We can't leave her alone in the CG, and we can't take her on the train.  Its my understanding the pumpkin patch isn't car accessible, so one of use would have to stay back with the dog and one go with the kids to the PP.  Unless we can find a solution.  A pet sitter is a good one.   I wonder how many dogs they allow in one site? :book:

8 am for breakfast is early with getting me and the kids ready so I'm not sure if we'll make it and we also won't be attending dinner.

For anyone not going to dinner Saturday night, maybe we can have our own potluck or eat together and enjoy eachother's company.

As for Saturday's festivities, I think that maybe in a perfect world this may come off without a hitch, but with so many people involved, I can't see it.  I think it would be safe to cut out the kid's craft time because they'll have so much fun during the day that they won't miss it.  This will also give us more time for the costume contest and trick-or-treating.  For those of you who want to go out for dinner, you can go a little early and not feel rushed.

I'm just saying.

Freedom_5

Here is another idea.
Switch the mexican resturant to Friday nite. That way we can have a potluck dinner after all.
