First of all thank you Bob and Trina for making this event happen.

Also, thanks Dee for the castus coolers, Todd for the cool stuff, and everyone for making my brother feel welcome.  Also, thank you to chezway, darksiders and dee for creating a contest to figure out when the baby will be born - it makes Marisol and I feel like part of the family.

My brother had a good time and said eveyone he met was nice and he had a good time.

The pancake breakfast and shirts were great and we are looking foward to next year and having our little one be part of the event.

We will post pics when he is born.

A special thanks to Brian for leaving his money at the table!  The only thing I can add is that we both gave our money to chezway - congradulations to you Jeannie, next time your going down.   :book:  :D

We liked the site - the train ride was fun, but the patch was okay.  We got home in about 11/2 hour and then took my brother out to dinner to the Tam-O-Shanter - he is now on his way to San Diego to go back to PA.

See you all soon.

Okay, no comment on the traffic home or how long it took us...but is was a very nice short drive...on the other hand, we are glad we left by noon, we got home, unpacked and got the trailer set in its usual spot, came in to a very closed up house, and very thankful for that.  The sky turned ominously dark, then the inside of the house had an orange/yellow glow...we all were feeling a bit like a "Halloween" trick was happening...we stayed in and relaxed.

We had a wonderful weekend, we are in for next year without a doubt!  Bob, you can count on me for the breakfast again!  The craft time was fun!  So, we are putting out the challenge... who is going to step up and do craft next year???

Bob & Trina, Dee, Lori, Deiter, all the breakfast crew, and costume contest  judges....THANK YOU!  This is such a wonderful group to camp with...The kids are wonderful...and to those kids who "gambled" their candy away...Sean had fun!!

Mary (Brad and Sean too!)

SURFcampers

We are the last here.  It's 9:00 and the sky is clear, but we're listening to 1070 AM for updates.  We packed up in case we have to exit with haste.  We had such a great time.  I must repeat that we are thrilled that we found this group.  You guys are wonderful and we think of you as our camping family.
Bob, amazing job as wagonmaster, Lori as auctioneer, Dee as pancake specialist and on and on!
We're definitely in for next year.  I'll keep everyone advised on the outcome of the election, who knows, maybe we'll become true SoCals.

What a great time we had this year at the 5th Halloween Campout......Thanks Bob and Trina for the year of hard work putting this all together.......(remember 2 sites for 2008).
Love the Tee shirts good job Dieter....What are you doing next year?  Hahaaaa
We had a blast packing all our new loot........I'll be the one with the hot water at the next campout......Jim is the one saying "Oh great one more thing to get into the truck"......Thanks honey......
Both Surf-Campers and ourselves bailed out we left the campground around 5 pm and don't know when Todd and Kevin got out.....(they were almost done packing when we pulled out)The news kept saying that area was going to have high winds with gusts around 80-100 mph and we just didn't feel like riding it out in the pup.......Traffic and the winds coming home were not very bad......The fire in Santa Clarita coming over the hills was such a site and the smoke was sooooooooooooooooooo thick........At last count we heard there are 12 fires burning in S.Calif.......what a mess.....
Glad to be home and looking forward to our next group camp out.....
Just another note of thanks to Brian and Dee for helping us get our easy up down and the pup awning put away.......I thought I was going to fly away while hanging on to it so it didn't tumble over the side of the hill......This is what memories are made of.....
Also being the last ones to leave and looking around the CG may I add a
big thanks to everyone for cleaning up their sites even after all the wind the night before.......The Host of our section(top and bottom) came over and said we were a fun group to hang with.......And we made his job easy because the place was spotless..........
I'll be posting pic's soon ......Right now I must get some much needed sleep
Hope everyone is home safe.....Post us Todd and Kevin.....Thanks again for the great things you put in the raffle.......Thanks everyone who worked so darn hard to make this Halloween Rally GREAT.......Carol and Jim

Sounds like everyone had a blast as usual. We're sorry we couldn't be there. We had lots of wind in our canyon. It took our gazebo 30' and dumped it upside down in the creekbed. We packed our awning Sat night before it went over the trailer. Taffy definitely does not like the wind. We had 300+ Cub Scouts and parents in camp so we were busy. We're still trying to get that 5th wheel into camp so we can play with everyone again.

I won't bore everyone with the same accolades as previously written, so I'll just say "ditto" on all the thanks.

We had a great time.  I must apologize, though, to the kids who trick or treated, because I fell asleep and missed half of them!

We had a funny incident on the way home.  At least Emily and I found it hilarious -- Paul not so much.  On the way up the grade in Camarillo on the 101 where you drop into the valley, Paul noticed one of our latches on the front storage trunk was unlatched and the lid was lifting slightly with all the wind.  As we got near the top, we smelled something burning.  Paul stopped at the top and latched the deck lid and then popped the hood.  He suspected the motor was just so hot from fighting the wind we were driving against that the oil on the motor was heating up.  Anyway, nothing was wrong, but as he went to step back from the motor area to lower the hood, a gust of wind slammed the hood down, catching him on top of the head with the hood of the Suburban.  The only reason it was funny is because he was out there saying some choice words and rubbing his head and all, and we couldn't hear him, only see him, and it looked like charades or a silent movie.  Yeah, we were in trouble or laughing at him, but it was a laughable moment, to us at least!

I failed to mention this in my earlier post,  THANK everyone for the non sugar treats for Josh.  He really enjoyed having things "just for him" and had fun playing with the toys.

Needless to say just shortly after the costume contest for the kids I  started filling bad and retreated to the pup, Toni joined you all for the potluck and enjoyed every bite and you all made her fill at home. Hi everyone,
We are praying for everyone who is either directly or indirectly affected by the wildfires!
If it helps, I now have the pictures of the past weekend up. They are linked in my signature to webshots and are under "Halloween Rally 07'".

Take care and lets all pray that no family loses their property or worse, their lives!

Jamesdad

I know a few of our camping families live in or close to the fire infested areas of Southern California and Maria and I just wanted to say, "we hope you and your families are safe and doing ok during this tough time. We heard Filmore and possibly Santa Paula is in danger and maybe evacuated. We will pray it comes out ok.

Bob,

Thanks again for a fun filled weekend.  You did a great job.  Being new to the group, it was nice finally being able to put faces with names.  Everyone was very friendly and made us feel welcome.  Can't wait till Lake Lopez.  Really looking forward to getting to know everyone better.   :J :book:

Well, after a crazy-hectic week I've finally had time to sit down, sort & edit pictures, and get them uploaded.  Frankly, I didn't take most of these.  My friend Marianne is a picture fiend -- over 200 taken in the short time she was there -- with MY camera!  But there are some really cute snaps of the kids in their costumes.  Enjoy!
