This morning after i dropped my daughter off at Kindergarten i decieded to go to WalMart to check out the camping stuff to see if they had it on sale, they did, but nothing that i could use and no great sale prices. Anyway i decieded to check out the clearance isle and they had just put out some nice stuff. I got 6 Presto Pizzazz pizza ovens for $5.00 each, i couldn't believe the price, they list for 39.97 each. I also got 8 Paula Deen Egg and Muffin Toasters for $5.00 each, again i couldn't believe the price, they list for 24.97 each. The lady that had put them out said they just didn't sell at Christmas time. I only had one cart and it was piled high. They also had some meat slicers for $10.00 that list for 60.00 and some black and decker jar lid openers for $5.00 that list for 24.97, and  some 3 1/2 qt. stainless steel round chaffer dishes for $5.00, i didn't see what the list price was on them, and there were a few other things as well, but i only wanted the pizza ovens and toasters. All this cost me $70.00 and is worth $439.58, not a bad days work if i do say so myself. I can put this stuff away and use it for Christmas next year. I never run into deals like this, so when i did i went for broke......

 Hi Ed,
Yes, you got some serious deals there. Each store, depending on what is left over after Xmas, has to dispose of the overstock! The company direction right now is to "clean house"! Unless it is a supercenter, 80% of what is up on what we called the risers above the ailse's has to come down and then the riser shelfs have to be gone by 2/1/07. Every day the store management checks the amount of markdowns and by their discretion, have a morning meeting with the dept. mgr.s to let them know if they can have more markdown dollars to spend on clearance and overstock!

I was excited about your post and visited a local West Los Angelus Walmart during my lunch break.  I really wanted a meat slicer for $10! :D

In the entire store nothing was on clearance other than some toys.

The stuff you mentioned was "marked down", but only about 10-25% or so.  And they didn't even carry the meat slicer at this store, ever!  Oh well! ;)

I went to Walmart this morning a little after 8:00am and they still have alot of toys on clearance, but the only real deal I saw was kids folding camping chairs, the round ones in a carrying case, for $5.00 each. I bought 4 of them, 2 for my daughters and 2 for my brothers little girls. The best time to check is between 8 and 9 in the morning the one lady told me, by early afternoon all the really good deals are gone......

Well, guys, here is the skinny on this. Depending on the store and what there internal direction from the store mgr. is will prevail on prices that are created "instore". Home office prices generaly come on thursdays. Sporting goods at this time has all of its dept. to be reset, so if they are not going to carry a particular item(s) it could end on clearance especialy if they a huge qty. of it. This year above any other, the goal is to reallly clean house. The risers that are above the product on the aisles have to come down! They have to do something with the overstock and depending on the mgr. could in effect, mark it a little to half off.
To Beacher, the slicer that you are looking for may never have been offered in that particular store. All stores carry 80% same items but the other 20% is for store specific locations. We have 3 stores in town and what might be in one store might not be in the other two.
