Telescopic supports -- Leak

I have a '85 Starcraft 12ft popup camper and recently returned from a week long camping trip where it rained the entire time.  We noticed the floor soften as the week and rains progressed.  The original OSB floor is now saturated and the consistency of oatmeal.  I did some checking this weekend and noticed that gaps in the sections of the telescopic supports --when I poured water down the supports the water would end up on the floor.

Does this sound right?  Are there suppose to be boots or seals that cover these gaps in the sections?  I'd like to get this sorted before I start working to replace the floor.

Much thanks,

Greg

WELCOME TO PUT :D

That really sucks.

I haven't heard that problem before but I'm sure that someone here has.

I know that replacing that floor is a big job. My understanding is that you have to remove all of the cabinetry and the body of the camper.

When they build those things, they put the OSB on the frame first, then they build the camper on top of it. From what you describe, it sounds like you may have to replace the entire floor by reversing that process. :(

Thanks for the response...Yes, I'm not looking forward to replacing the floor.  My hope is that I can replace only the damaged areas verses stripping it down to the axil.  Before I do however I need to get my water issue sorted.  When I described the telescopic support posts and the sections gaps between did that make sense?  Does your camper have the same?  Is water able to penatrate the seams?  Just curious.

I assumed that you were talking about the 4 corner posts that lift your roof.

I have those on mine but I've never experienced leaking in them.
