I wanted to post to re-introduce myself.  I was a regular poster here in 2000-2001.  We sold our pop-up in 2003 (long story) and are now back into RVing with a Rockwood Roo which we bought used last summer.  In '08 we are hoping to take sabaticals from work and take a cross-continent trip.  Right now it looks like Ontario, New York, Pennsylvania, Virginia, The Carolinas, Georgia, Alabama, Mississippi, Texas, New Mexico, Arizona, Nevada, California, Oregon, Washington, British Columbia, Alberta, Montana, Wyoming, Colorado, Kansas, Missouri, Illinois, Michigan, and back to Ontario.  So, I figured I was going to need lots of advice and I came back here.

Looking forward to posting with all the old timers I remember and all the folks who have come along in the interim.

Welcome back!  You'll see a lot of new faces, but some old-timers like myself are still here.

BTW, a few things have changed...I'm in suburban Minneapolis, Minnesota, not suburban Boston, Mass.  any more.  I ran a poll about changing my nick, and it got decidedly voted down, so this is the only place where I still go by AustinBoston.

I don't know if you were still here when we took our 13,500 mile trip across the US (with a short jaunt in Canada to shorten the return slightly).  But I'll be glad to answer questions.

Free advice: Don't forget to plan vehicle maintenance.  You should not tow 15,000 miles without an oil change (or more like five) and a tranny fluid change if there are mountains involved.

I'm glad you didn't change your name or I wouldn't have recognized you!

Welcome back.

Looks like a great trip planned but you forgot the New England area.

Nice to see you back.  Your trip sounds wonderful.  How long do you plan to take to do it?

Welcome back.
Sounds like a nice trip you have planned, I'm still waiting patiently for retirement so I can head south in the winters.

http://www.hybridexplorer.com is another forum and it is dedicated to hybrid owners, there are several Roo owners over there too. A lot of good information about modifications to hybrids as well.

Of course you will get plenty of useful info here too.

Sorry about that!  We need to be in the Carolinas by the end of May so we have to bypass the North East.  Plus, we figured that part of the country is closest to home so we can do it another time.  My in-laws live in Nova Scotia so a trip out that way is definitely in the plans (maybe this year if a slight change of job turns out for me which would give me and extra week of paid vacation).

We are planning to do it in four months.  May - August 2008.  Our route will be very casual so if we decide that is too rushed, we will just modify the route.
