Hi,

We used to go to Sandy Cove campground near Bethany Beach, DE, (between Rehoboth, DE & Ocean City, MD). It was on the bay, but near the ocean.

It has closed, and we cannot see to find a good replacement campground in the same general area. Can anyone help?

Shows several (zoom in on the Bethany Beach area to see them).  Most of these listings use the term "RV Park" which tends to me to mean "caters to big-rigs," but not necessarily.

I have no experience with anything north of Chincoteague, VA (and that was a long time ago), which isn't exactly near Bethany Beach, so I can't give you a review.

Did you try searching this forum for "Bethany Beach?"

I never made it to Sandy Cove, but the popup I had originally had a bumper sticker from there.

If you are into non=electric sites, the there is Cape henlopen SP at Lewes, just beyond the Ferry entrance. Fishing pier, beach, and some sort of thing that belongs to the univeristy.

Three Seasons is closing or has closed. That was supposed to be the ultimate camping resort on the Delmarva.

There is also Tall Pines between Lewes and Georgetown, for some odd reason Raymond likes that place. quite a few seasonals.

Then there is one at Rehobeth, that if heading south you make a U-turn at the Pizza Hut, never been there.

people Rave about Frontier Town out side of Ocean City MD. Tracy makes a pilgrimage to Assageague, Federal Park at least once a year. That one ok if you do not want a hot shower. I think the sound side is more protected.

We have been to Tom;s Cove on Chincoteague, it was OK, we had the popup with no AC in those days, an icecream truck came by at night, WONDERFUL

Raymond also like Tall Pines Harbor, sites are a little close, used to be an Airstream park, on a Bay, to the South and west of Chincoteague.
We ahve not been for a while.

Going even farther south is Cherry Stone, been there was quite impressed, our sone was smaller then and it has a lot for kids to do.

There is also a former private campground that the State of VA opened as a SP, Kippolete (sp??) I hear is nice.

if you go over to MD, there is a SP east of NE MD that I have been too. There are primitive sites near the Bay. The exit off I95 takes me as long to get to from home as it takes to get to the campground from I 95. It is about 20 minutes from the upper delmarva.

There is not much around Dover DE, you have to go South.  There used to be a campground near Symrna, but that one closed years ago.

I like Trapps Pond SP (yeah I am back in Delaware now), it is further inland.  And Killens Pond is nice, but too many Pine Trees (I am allergic to pine trees)
