I remember that conversation with the eye doctor.  "No, you don't have to get bifocals yet, but you will in a year."  At that point I said - well give them to me now so I don't have to buy another pair of glasses in a year. I was just a tad over 40 then.  Now, I'm still just a tad over 40; it's just a bigger tad!  :p

(... and we're holding at about the same age ... how much is a tad? :p )
Just a bit more than a smidge!

I'm not avoiding the bifocals, it's just the doctor said I don't need them yet. I've worn glasses since I was 7, so it's not like this is a new thing for me.  And both my kids started school in glasses already, and my DH is blind as a bat. (please, all you braniacs, no lectures on how bats really can see, yada, yada, yada).

The other issue we've not touched on is the cost!  I have insurance fortunately, but I picked out five frames, narrowed it to two.  Really liked one pair, really really liked another.  But alas, $125 over what the insurance would pay for vs. $44 over, I went for the ones I really liked.  I can't believe the cost of frames.  Now I'm hoping when my new specs come in, they can put my new distance prescription in my old frames so I can save some dough on that.
