Hello,

We live in Chandler, Arizona. We just purchased a new Fleetwood Niagra. We have been out 2 times. The first trip was to lake pleasant just to learn the features of the PU. Our next trip was to Houston Mesa Campground in Payson. We are going to the campground at Karchner Cavers next week. We are looking for mostly scenic campgrounds. Dry camping is fine. Anyone have any suggestions for scenic camping in Arizona?

Anywhere up on the rim is nice.  I like Canyon Point CG the best.  It is about 5 miles from when you top the hill onto the Mogollon Rim.  It is elec & water hook ups, it's in tall pine trees, and within walking distance to the edge of the rim & Sinkhole.  Plus they have a Ranger show up on weekends and give the kids nature walks, and they learn about the animals that inhabit the area.

Big Lake ,in the White Mountains is beautiful, but is probably not open until May.Fool Holllow Lake State Park in Show Low is a nice place to camp, with many scenic areas near.Fool Hollow is usually open year round.

Well I'm new to this site. Though I have had my Coleman Tacoma for four years. There are two places I found that I love. Both are in Northern Arizona. First is Blue Ridge Reservoir off of Highway 87 just north Strawberry and Clint's Well. This is dry camping at its finest. The campground overlooks the canyon lake. Good fishing, hiking and boating for boats under 7hp.

The other place I like is Mormon Lake Lodge Just off FH-3 or Lake Mary Road about 30 miles Southeast of Flagstaff. They have both full hook-ups and dry camps sites with a shower and laundry facility. That is a great place for taking ATVs and hiking. Contrary to the name there is no real lake only a small trout pond for the kids.

Both places are in the heart of the northland and full of great scenery and tall pines. Hope you enjoy your next trip.

Technically Mormon Lake is the largest natural lake in the state.  But then again,  that is not saying much in Arizona.  In wet years it can get quite large though.
It happens to be the best windsurfing lake around in early spring as it's shallow depth allows the water to heat up quicker.
