Just a quick note regarding a fairly new policy that the MN DNR has adopted for geocaches being placed in MN State Parks. The DNR has allowed them to be placed after the ranger has been fully notified and can monitor the cache site for environmental impact etc.

This adds an interesting new activity that could possiblly be in some of our parks this summer. The DNR has also changed their policy on caches in State Forests and these will not have to be registered with a land manager or ranger in these situations.

Geocaching is a fun activity and is great fun. Geocachers are extremely concerned with the environment and are notorious for " Caching in and Trashing out" (picking up litter while out caching) so really its a potential win/win for all (this un-littering usually occurs in regular city and county parks as most SP don't have alot of litter floating around in the woods.

I will try to keep this community apprised of any caches that areplaced in our parks this summer. For more information on geocaching in general and in particular MN geocaching, see below... Good Luck and stop over for one!
