Has anyone been here planing a trip the end of april thanks Daniel

We have been there! We have 2 trips planned again this year for Ft. Mountain.  It has a great swimming beach with a snack bar (ice cream, chips, drinks, hot dogs). They send out a golf cart with snacks and ice and firewood in the evenings to run a route through the campers.  It had nice facilities, good places to hike and a beautiful little lake.  We stayed over 4th of July weekend last summer with our then 2-1/2 year old son.  Had a really nice time.

A couple of things to note:
The sites by the lake are beautiful and the one we had was even nearly private. However, the frogs are incredibly loud.  Seriously loud.  I've never heard anything like it. When we pulled up, the guy next to us said "hope you brought your earplugs". We thought he meant because of all the kids at his campsite.  We learned that night what he really meant.  But, since it was July in Georgia, we ran the AC at night anyway and it drowned out the noise of the bullfrogs.  It was actually good noise (nature) until the middle of the night.

I would avoid sites really close to the day use area.  It's heavily used on weekends from people driving up from Dalton, GA.  It can get crowded.

Some of the sites are really close together.  The sites on the loop on the other side of the road from the lake seemed to be spaced a bit better. Some sites on the back of that loop are really in the woods by themselves.

Short drive in to Chatsworth for groceries and restaurants.  We made several trips down.

If you have older children, look in to hiking in the Cohutta Wilderness. It's adjacent to the park. Warning - it is a true WILDERNESS.  Trails are not marked and it's not easy - but it definitely gets you away from the world.

Let me know if you have any more questions!

We stayed there a couple of weeks ago and it is a very nice park.  It is clean and well taken care of.  Due to the reason we were in the area we did not get to do much at the park but we did hike the trail around the lake and it was quite nice.
