For anyone who's interested, Wavery & I will be going to McGrath SB the weekend of May 18-20.  That's the weekend of Oxnard's annual Strawberry Festival, held at the local city college.  It's a big festival with lots of arts & crafts.  More importantly, there are more kinds of strawberry-based foods than you can imagine.  Lots of fun.

If you've never been to McGrath, it's a great CG.  Dry camping (sorry, Dee), but the campsites are large & nicely arranged in big loops.  Bathrooms aren't bad -- typical state park style.

The beach is nice, over a small dune.  Not a bad hike at all, and the beach has always been deserted when I've been there.  Campfire rings at every site, along with picnic tables.  No shade trees, but large bushes separate the campsites from one another.

Join us if you like.  We'll be going to the Festival on Saturday.  (Jed will be visiting his breeder while we're at the Festival - :D.)

We made our reservations and there are about 70 sites left.

Recumbentman will join us, I'll bet :sombraro: It's right in their back yard.

sounds like fun, we used to go all the time when i was a kid and I lived near there

Dan & I will be in Wa. visiting our grandson for his first B-day. we have not seen him since they left in July via Medivac.

It will be the first time I get to hold him

Wow ... what a special thing!  Please post pictures when you can!

I'll have a piece of strawberry pizza for you -- it's to die for!

I would love to go, but Grififn has his last t-ball game on the 19th. I don't want him to miss that or the team party. Waaahh!

Recumbentman

hey guys
we might be able to join you. can you supply the link and site numbers you have, so we can get a spot near you.
probably take me longer to hitch up the PU, then to drive there LOL  :p

I knew that we could count on you Brad :sombraro:

Their reservations are not site specific. They assign you a site when you show up. We thought that we would try to show up around the same time and get sites as close together as possible. We were thinking of getting there around 3:PM on Friday. Is that doable for you? I know that you have such a long way to drive :J

Just plug-in an arrival date of May 18 and a 2 day stay.

I can be there by 3:00 if I take a half-day off.  It pains me to do that,  -- NOT!!!

Moose -- what about you & Paula joining us?  It's close to you, also.

Sounds like fun, DH, Sarah and Matt all love Strawberries.  Unfortunately, May 21 is Josh and Sarah's 5th b-day and we'll probably have their party on the 19th.  I'll put this festival on next years' to go list.

Recumbentman

OK  :D  we are good to go. all sign up. If you wish, Mary can go there in the morning on Friday and try to get our sites next to each other.

Probably wouldn't hurt to try. It depends on the ranger that is on duty that particular day and the mood he/she is in. Technically they are not supposed to assign the site unless each camper is physically there. Although, I have seen them do it for others :D .

The problem is, there will be campers that have been there for a while or just got there before we did and they may be in between us. I don't see that as a big deal though.

I guess this wouldn't be good for me, considering I'm allgergic to Strawberries!:yikes:

wavery

You're not allergic to camping are you???? :sombraro:

griffsmom

I have stickied this thread for you.
