Hi all, My son has a baseball tournament in Steamboat Springs Colorado in July. Trying to reserve a spot at Steamboat campgrounds to turn the week long tournament into a vacation. This seems to be the only campground in the area with hook ups and showers. I am having trouble getting anyone to answer the phone in the office and the fax number they provide is not working. This is making me a little paranoid about this place. Has anyone stayed at this campground? If so, am a making a big mistake? Anyone got any numbers or email addresses I can use to get ahold of them.
I am a little desperate as I cannot afford the high prices the rest of the team is paying for condos in the area. And,.. I really don't want to take any chances finding any camping areas in one of the National parks out there.

My first reaction was that they might still be closed for the season, but their web site (http://www.steamboatcampground.com/) says that they are open all year.

For a broader selection, go to http://www.epgsoft.com/CampgroundMap/ and search for Steamboat Springs, CO, then zoom out a couple times.  There were many National Forest Service campgrounds, a few State Park campgrounds, and two or three commercial campgrounds within about 50 miles (about a 1 to 1-1/2 hour drive, depending on conditions).

At least some of the state park campgrounds in the area have electric hookups.  The CamgroundMap link has all wrong links for Colorado State Parks.  Use the map to find a name of a state park, then use this to find the park's website: http://www.parks.state.co.us/

I am expecting someone from Colorado to correct or improve on this information.

This is where I would stay if I needed what you need...Stagecoach State Park.

Here is what they say:
"Junction City and Pinnacle campgrounds, border the reservoir and feature 30 amp electrical hookups, water, showers, flush toilets, and a dump station west of Pinnacle campground. All campsites have a picnic table and fire ring/grill."

Here is the direct link to the Park Website:
http://parks.state.co.us/Parks/Stagecoach

It is an easy 16 mile drive to Steamboat Springs and a fairly nice park.

You can reserve sites online.
