Greetings all!  I just brought home my very first pop up!  A 1985 Starcarft Starlite 17 and she is great.  The question I have, and I am sure someone has already asked this is, what tools should I carry with me when I go camping.

Thanks
Peter

Essential:

* Lug wrench for pop-up tires (make sure it works for spare as well.  some reqire a deep-well socket).  Better would be a torque wrench.
* Jack that works with pop-up.  Your TV jack may not work.
* Extension cord, white water hose (if hooking up to services).  Those poles seem never to be where you need them.

Good Idea:

* Duct tape
* Leveling mechanism.  BAL, Lynx, or 1" x 6" boards.
* Level.  Note: This is NOT essential - as long as your pop-up is level enough to not offend you, the fridge will be level enough.  Today's fridges have to have the pop-up off 4" (side-to-side) before they have a problem.  I find 1" just livable, so 4" would be unbearable.

Also bring:

*screwdrivers
* socket set/wrenches
* hammer

This is off my head, so others will need to fill in.

Do not ... (repeat) ... DO NOT forget the Channel-Loks.

I know this isn't a tool, but if hooking up, DO NOT forget your 30a to 15a adapter plug.  Also, common items, hammer, hatchet.

I keep one of those off-brand tool kits in my truck.  Very Cheap, but has the tools you'll need.

AS you work on the PUP at home look at what tools you have out of the box. If you don't normaly take the box with you go to the pawn shop and get duplacutes to keep in camper.  Remember, if you need to pop up to get to the lugwrench you don't have a lugwrench...

I never leave home without a pair of vise-grips and 2 screw drivers (flat & phillips). With those tools, you can fix most things.

the screws in my PUP are square head

I will add a torque wrench and socket for the PU lug nuts.  They should be torqued every time you tow.  A 12 volt powered air compressor is good to have along with a good quality tire pressure gage.  Some other odds and ends I carry are hose washers, fuses, a water pressure regulator if you are going to have water hookups, and electrical tape/wire nuts.:)

That would give you a good reason to carry an appropriate sized nut driver ( 1/4" and/or 5/16").

I was very happy to have a phillips screw driver last camp-out when I had to remove the awning bag on our camper.

BTW, vise grips are great on hex head screws, in a pinch.
