I had a 8000 series roof top air conditioner and ceiling plenum installed in December thus today is the first day that I tried the unit.  After runing the unti for 3o minutes in he heat mode and the unit never really blew out hot air.  I had the selector switched to low heat (the only selection for heat) and I had the temperature control level all the way on red and it never blew hot air.  Is something wrong with the unit? Does it take longer to blow hot air? Or is this normal and I need to use the propaine heater.

We just had air and heat strip added to our 06 bayside, playing outside with it and according to dealer it never really gets to be a furnace type heat. It's only like 5200 btu's it does make a difference. very low heat and alot of fan. try it on a cooler day, run it for awhile and step outside then back in you'll notice. It's more for dampness and morning chill. I'm still not going to put the electric heater back in till we try it a few times.

The air from your heat strip will NEVER feel HOT.  It produces about as much heat as a small cube electric heater.  The fan blows the air so fast it doesn't get hot like a small heater, but it is heating the air.  Using the AC/heat also circulates the air into the bunkends.  I often use the AC/heat and one or two small electric heaters.  One plugged into the second circuit in the PU and the second heater plugged into an extension cord to the power pole.  The AC/heat also circulates the warm air that a furnace or other heat source creates, so that the heat isn't sitting up by the ceiling.  One trip last year the temperature went down to 7 or 9 degrees over night.  Using just the AC/heat the temperature in the PU went up 30 degrees.  When I use the AC heat when the temps are down in the low 30s, the camper is in the upper 60s.  :)

We don't use a heat strip for two reasons, too noisey at night and  poor heating....

I like the constant white noise the fan makes, much better than the rumble of the furnace going off and on all night.

Amen to that.  I would much rather listen to the constant fan then the turbine wind up (flue fan); click, click, pop (igniter); relatively loud blower fan, off  Repeat after 10 minutes.  Not to mention the 65 degrees, 45 degrees, 65 degrees, 45 degrees (and cooked dog who moves in front of the heater) smell.

You forgot the part where you lay there worrying that something is wrong cuz it doesn't cycle back on!

I wasn't too sure about the heat strip at first ~ my first PU only had the furnace ~ but I like it.  I usually have a ceramic heater and the heat strip and it keeps the PU consistently warm.  I like the white noise too ~ it helps the kids fall asleep even with activity going on outside the trailer.

For me, that's usually at 3 am when your propane tank runs out..  :)
