We have decided to change plans and head to the Rehobeth Beach, DE area for our vacation. Does anyone have any good/bad reviews of the area campgrounds?

Thanks!!

We are going out to Cape Henlopen State park this weekend. It is a few miles north of Rehobeth. It is not everyone's favorite. There are pro's and con's to this one. http://www.destateparks.com/chsp/chsp.htm

Pro's

   Great beach in the park.
   Usually very quite.
   Good area to ride bikes.
Just a few miles north of Rehobeth.
   Takes reservations.
   Great tent sites.
   Nice Nature center

Con's

Trailer parking is on street parallel to site.
   No Electric.
Bath house are OK, not great.
Water at some, but not all sites.

We love the beach there, Camp sites are just OK, I liked the campground better when we just used tents ( No longer acceptable to DW ) Very close to Rehobeth so there is plenty to do when the kids get too bored with the beach area. They take reservations which is really good during the summer, You can not count on getting a site by just driving up in the summer.

There are other campgrounds around the area, but we always come back to this one for the beach.

We just got back from Cape Henlopen--try to get there once or twice a year.

Parking is "parallel," and can be somewhat un-level.  Nothing that can't be adjusted for, though.  Usually sites on the ends of the roads are more level.  We like 84.  Most sites have some semblance of shade as well.

No electric, so have your battery charged if you use one.  You will maybe need at least 35' of hose, depending on where within your "Parking spot" you find best.  The park sells firewood, at $6 a comparatively large bundle.  Will likely take a couple of those a night.

No-see-ums were out in force, particularly when the wind was calm, so DEET or your favorite repellent is in order.  When the breeze picks up, the bugs aren't so bad.

Great beach, good fishing from the pier or beach, lots of bike trails to ride/hike = a great place.  Oh, yeah:  shopping at the outlets.
There is also Indian River Inlet, but only the "New Camp" is open and it's a parking lot, even on good days.  3-way hookups, but no shade.  Main attraction is the fishing, and somewhat close proximity to Rehoboth and Ocean City, MD.

I have posted a few pictures of our trip to Cape Henlopen the other weekend. Not many pictures of the actual campground, but it will give you  a general idea. Most of the pictures are the beach or from the observation tower.

I'll be there next weekend.  Work is having the annual recognition at Dewey Beach next Friday.

Will take the Bantam as it is airier and lord knows in June with NO electric i may need air.  I will have my generator if it gets too bad and I NEED AC, but that is noisey and will only use in the daytime.
