I noticed on the 1001xs camper I inspected , it had 2 like gold stays same material as lifters , housed in the rear bumper channel, capped at each end.
1.Are these safety stays when camper is erected?
2.Do you mount these on opposite corners?
3.Should there be only 2 or 4 required?

On the bed stay side of things - pics required on how these attach. I have 2 stay type poles - not sure if they are the dutchmen ones though!?
Obviously there are beds at each end - different stay attachments?
Again pics and maybe lengths of stays required in mm please.
Marty - again!!!

Those pieces in the bumper I have no clue what they are besides supports.

Now the bed supports, I too have a 94 dutchmen.

the king size bed has 4 poles to support it.  2 are like t's that pivot.  and 2 are straight.

Now the hard poles to figure out is the t like.  If its the same set up.  You should have a fitting on the tongue close to the PU with the bed ALL the way in you should see 2 holes that the Dowl piece will slide into.  Basically the when installed the pieces should look like a T.  Kinda.  Push the hole bed in and you will see the holes to insert the one side with the dowl into.  Once you see that you can figure it.  The bed will then slide out ontop of the pole for support..

The other 2 should be straight forward.  and the queen bunk has 2 supports that go to the bumper.

My camper isn't set up yet but I plan on setting up next weekend.  So i can take pics if you like...

I hope this helps took me forever to figure that out....

Rob thanks for the thread.
Pics would be great , as I am running blind here , and Until I see what or how it is set up I dont know what is missing!
So detailed pics would be appreciated.
If you get alot , email them to martin@uinstallkitchens.com.au
In the meantime , I intend on the camper collection on this side in a couple of weeks - its 1200klms from me.Once I get it I will take some pics of these rails in the bumper.
Thanks again

Rob forgot to ask.....
Maybe when you have your camper setup and taking pics - you could answer some of my other pic questions I have posted in various threads(4 of)?
search under member "mgibo" (me) and you will see threads I have listed - mainly about the inside (cabin) roof setup, curtain rails and the like.
See what you reckon. Any questions mail me.

Hi Marty, if the posts you are talking about in your bumper are shaped like "c"'s then they are roof supports. They go around the lifters on opposite corners in case of winch or cable failure. My camper has six bed support poles. Four for the front and two for the back. My poles are like Rob's in the front Two look like the ones for the back (different lengths) The other two look like what Rob is describing. I don't have any pics. But if Rob can't help you out with that let me know and I will see what i can do. I have a 1995 Dutchman.
Hope this helps.

Stephanie thanks for the thread.
your info clarifies what these little buggers are.Thanks.
In regards to pics and some general info of what I have is as follows.
Obviously Ive got a dutchmen 1994 1001xs. In great shape internally , however aparently when it was containered to Australia , the roof was damaged and I am up for a roof restoration. I am thinking of fibreglassing over the original frame work and foam insulation - this way I will have a watertight contiuous seam for the roof.
The only thing I need to clarify is on the inside where canvas attaches to the inner roof , I have no idea what was where , or how for that matter. I figure that with the canvas edges having a sown-in rope , therfore run into some rope track - how much track and where/what setout is the mystery.
Pics from anyone would be great , and some form of setup and de-setup of the camper.I have never setup one of these before.I have seen video footage Ive found on the net and it seems straight forward though.
Furthermore , the crank handle is missing and I figure that it just a square tubelike    handle that slides over the crank ratchet setup. Is there anything special with the crank handle inside the tube or anything I need to know about the crank area?  I assume again , that the campers own roof weight will slowly lower under gravity when the crank ratchet is turned anti-clockwise.
As you can probably tell I am gathering info as I go , however , so far everyones help is perfect. I pick up something new everyday. Thankyou all.
So my hand is up for any help that is offered. again thanks , I will get there and have ya all to thank for that.Pics will be posted as I restore the roof.

Forgot to mention - Should there be some type of visual cord or something so you know when to stop cranking up?
I heard/read somewhere that there should be a "green" cord that visualises when the camper is in its uppermost state.HELP!!!

Marty, I can't help you with the way the canvas attaches to the roof(I haven't paid attention to that). There is nothing special about the crank handle. It is just a square tube that goes inside of the thing on the winch. Ours does have the green cord, but we don't use it as it has come loose from the roof. We just watch the canvas to tell when we are all the way up. The canvas will get taught when the roof is all the way up. I feel your pain about fixing your roof. We are going to have to do a roof rebuild on one side of ours this year. As far as set up it is pretty much straight forward. Nothing real special there either. Oh another thing i just thought of we had some problems with our winch and the square thing will unscrew, I don't remember just exactly what it look like without the square tube but you may be able to just use a socket and ratchet to raise the roof temporarily until you can find a replacement handle. If you are still having problems in a few days I can try to get some pics of the way the canvas attaches but won't have time for a few days.
Sorry I don't have all of your answers, we just bought ours at the end of the season last year.
