Well I finally made the plunge. We found a 1996 Jayco 1206 or I should say my wife found it. Just brought it home today. And got it in the garage. Man does it make my garge look small. All I can see wrong with it so far is it needs a good cleaning although I am sure there will be other things. Came equiped with over size 3-way fridge bathroom with shower, hot water heater, outside shower, dual 5lb propane tanks, new battery. I checked the roof goes up and down as it should and the canvas and screens look good just very dirty. The roof looks brand new. After comparing it with others I have seen I couldn't walk away. It would be my luck that I get my yearly sinus infection today though so I can't do much with it tonight. I am a newbee so may have a few questions at first. thank you for all the info on this website it definetly helped me make a good decision on what I bought.

We just bought our first popup also. We got a 1999 starcraft.  It's amazing how long these things stay nice since all they really are is a tent.  I hope you guys have a great time with it.  We're taking ours out for the first time this weekend.

Thank you for the reply. I am hoping to get the PU out of the garage this weekend weather permiting to get a good assesment of what I need to do first. I know the canvas needs a good cleaning an I guess you are suppose to use a diluted bleach solution so I will start there other then that the outside and the inside just needs cleaned since it as not been used for a long time. This didn't have an owners manual with is at least I haven't found it in any of the storage areas yet and really have no idea how anything works on it. I need to locate that first and hopefully I will find a complete one online. I have never owned an  RV before so I guess I have alot to learn. I am going to sign up with webshots so I can post pictures of my progress. I got a great deal for $2000.00 so if it needs some work on the appliances I can deal with that.

Take care Griz,
Steve

Hi Steve, i found you an owners manual, go to this site and at the top of the page next to "forums" is an owners manual site and they have an owners manual for 1997 Jayco's, one manual for all models. It should work for yours, you can down load it for FREE.   http://www.popupportal.com/

If you want to learn more about the PU go to this site   http://rveducation101.com/          You can order the Pop-up 101 Video, it really helped me when we first got our PU......Happy Camping,.......Ed

I will definetly check that website out. I had seen it before but hasn't sure if the DVD would be brand specific or not but I guess when you come down to it all popups are pretty much the same as far as the appliances go.
