We have a 79 viking saga which we are re-doing :( we just got the roof up. But we went to check out the hand pump faucet and it is disgusting (eww) the line that leads out (blue and white spiral) is competely damaged, and the grey line coming from the tank is full of green and grey mold, nothing you would want to drink out of (yuk) How do we replace the whole thing and disinfect everything? Thanks.

I recently replaced the hand pump faucet on our '82 Viking. Found the Atwood faucet on Ebay for about $50. Don't know about the nasty in the lines but I pumped a strong water/bleach mix from the holding tank through the faucet as ours was all pretty clean. Isn't the blue/white line just the drain hose? I thought of changing the grey line in ours due to the age but haven't found something similar yet but only looked in Home Depot and Lowes so far. Maybe an RV place will have the correct stuff.

Don't get too grossed out by the mold. It is a living organism and it has rights too :J

J/K a 10% bleach solution flushed through the water tank should clear that guck right out. :sombraro:

We decided to replace the grey line, it was just too disgusting to even think of drinking out of and also replaced the damaged blue and white spiral line out. We got both lines from Home Hardware, they had spools of clear pipes so we got six feet of 3/4 inch for the grey line and 3 feet of the spiral line which was 1 1/2 inch (guessing the size, I can't quite remember :) we took the damaged lines in with us so we could get the right size. We plan on flushing the rest of the tank and the other lines once we get the new lines on, wish us luck :D

We had a real cold snap here in the sunny NC South the winter of '04 and had the  PUP parked in the driveway for the winter. With my little Starcraft, when closing up, the sink rotates over. That meant whatever water was left in the hand pump water fixture and line, in the rolled over position, water settled right there. And in this case, froze right that position and split the water fixture! When I opened it up in March, there was the factured hand pump. For a replacement I contacted the Starcraft part's dept and ordered out a new one (if you live over 50 miles from a Starcraft dealer you can order directly from the factory). The new pump was something like $36.00 + UPS shipping. Anyway, when replacing the pump I also replaced the water lines and our local general hardware store had the very same plastic lines.

Probably not a bad idea to change out those water lines, maybe every decade of so!
