Hello,

Good to be here, I am enjoying and learning so much from these posts.  My family and I are the owners of an '07 Fleetwood Yuma, and I have a question about grey water drainage. At the campground, while at our site, where should I drain it?  We only have a sink onboard.

Also, We have a 3 way fridge.  While in tow, do I run it off the 12V setting?  I have the 7 pin plug, and I think I remember the dealer mentioning that the PUP battery charges during towing. Is this true?

And...We have an A/C unit and I noticed there looks to be an area where the condensation should drain out on each side of it.  But there is a seam with sealant running right thru the middle of the top.  Does the water come out both sides? Or does it depend on which way the PUP is leveled?

Thank's

Welcome to PUT!

We had an '04 Yuma, and hope you enjoy yours as much as we did ours.

We collected grey water in a 7 gallon aquatainer. Most times I just took it to the bathhouse and dumped it in a utility sink the tenters would use for washing dishes (not one of the wash sinks) or in one of the toilets. There were times I used the dump station, but the bathhouses seemed more convenient.

The 12v setting on the refer is a "hold temp" setting. It's not powerful enough to actually cool the refer. If you cool it down on 110 or propane before leaving, the 12v setting should keep items cold during transit. Don't forget to turn it off as soon as you arrive at your destination and also at times you might stop for meals. You will drain your camper battery or your tow vehicle battery very quickly.

We didn't have AC, so can't address that issue. If it can drain out of both sides, my suspicion is that it would drain out of the low side. It's very difficult to get a camper perfectly level, tlhdoc's eggs notwithstanding. (I would think you'll hear from tlhdoc shortly.) This would be a good argument to make the back of the camper (actually the street side) the low side intentionally. I don't think it would be pleasant to have AC condensation draining down your awning and front of the camper into your outdoor living area.

Happy camping!!!

Welcome to PUT!  Dave answered most of your questions.  The proper way to handle your grey water is to collect it in a container and then dispose of it at the bath house or dump station.  I have 2 five gallon containers.  When one is full I switch and then dump when it is convenient.  You need to check if your TV (tow vehicle) has a "hot line" to the plug.  The easiest way to do this is to disconnect the camper battery, turn on the switch for the outside light, and then plug the TV into the camper.  Check and see if your outside patio light comes on.  If it does you have a hot line to the camper.  If it doesn't your vehicle isn't wired with a hot line and you can get that done.  If you have a hot line your battery will charge when towing, BUT it is not enough to keep the battery fully charged.  If you are running your refrigerator on the 12 volt setting, it can drain the battery more than the TV is supplying.  Also if you stop for a break, turn the refrigerator OFF.  It will drain your batteries.  You should get a "3 stage smart charger" to charge your camper battery.  After every trip fully charge the battery and then top it off before you leave on the next trip.  The battery will have a longer life if you keep it charged.  As for the AC condensation.  It will run out on the low side.  I have mine tilted slightly to the rear/roadside of the PU.  It is not enough to notice, just a slight tilt gets the job done.  What brand of AC do you have?  Have fun camping.:)

thanks.

Will see what A/C unit I have.  Aquatainer huh? Where can I find this particular unit?

Here's another question. Why do they make the front and rear ends tapered, beside the aerodynamics.  I could reallly use the storage.

Thank's ahead of time.

An Aquatainer is a 7 gallon water jug available in the camping department at WalMart.  If you use it for grey water, make sure you mark it as such so you don't use it for anything else.
