First time Popup owner

We only use the sink in our camper.  (washing dishes/ brushing teeth thats all).  I always wondered why I am supposed to collect my "grey water" but the guy in the tent next to me (and for many years me) is allowed to wash the same dishes with the water hose on the ground...Its the same grey water as far as I can tell.  In fact we often rinse the dishes in the hose outside so we dont clog the drain in the camper.  Of course large waste off the plate goes in the trash.  My plate is usually clean but you know kids....
