Quote from: robpoeI lost my wallet at the local 7-11 (only place it could have been - I had it there, left in a hurry because of a growing disturbance, didn't have it the next day).

Called the CC companies, and the bank (2 credits and a check card) and they'd already tried to use the 2 credit cards to make pre-paid phone purchases, and used the bank card to fill the gas tank of two vehicles (a 45 and a 60 dollar purchase, same gas station, about 20 mins apart.

Had to deal with all of that, but once it was dealt with, everything seems ok.  They have my driver's license, it doesn't have my SS # on it, so they'd have a hard time with that..
If thieves have your name and the state that you live in, chances are, they can get the rest of the info on-line.

If you want to see something scary go to:
http://www.zabasearch.com/
put in your name and the state that you live in. You may be shocked at what displays. Your S/S# and a lot of other info is available to anyone for a small fee.

We don't use our credit cards [2] much, if at all, when traveling with the camper.  Pay cash for gas, supplies, campground and a motel if we stay in one. We only carry enough personal cash between us to take care of the days expences plus a little extra and  never carry any bills larger than a twenty. I have a built in hida-hole in the camper where extra cash, credit cards are kept. No thief would ever find it without tearing the whole trailer apart. I have told several family members about it but sofar no one has even come close to finding it.
Its really nice to come home from a trip and not be greeted by credit card bills.

There's another scam going around that everyone needs to be aware of. If someone comes to your front door saying they are checking for ticks due to the warm weather and asks you to take your clothes off and dance around naked with your arms up, DO NOT DO IT!! THIS IS A SCAM!!

I wish I had been warned about this yesterday.

Gosh, I feel so stupid now.
