Been a while since we posted, but for those that remember we are looking for used tent trailer.....

We think we found one.  2000 Palomino (with layout similar to current model 4100).  Everything except a furnace. $4900

I have 2 questions:

1.  Is this a reasonable price (we think it is, but looking for wisdom from this group)?

2.  How important is a furnace?  We might be camping in early spring and late fall.  We've heard a furnace is important to keep the condensation levels reasonable but thinking ventilation and airflow is more important?

Thanks for all your help.

It's really hard to tell you what it's worth based on the info you've provided.  I tried to find a price on NADA, but you didn't give the model.  Since you said it's similar to a current year model 4100, I checked the 2000 Palomino Yearling RL.  I didn't put A/C down as an option, but pretty much everything else.  They came up with approx. $2,000.

Now, that's USD, not Canadian.  But still, if this is the model you have, it would seem like they're asking way too much.

NADA isn't necessarily the be-all and end-all of pricing a pup, but it should at least give you somewhere to start.  I suggest you look at NADA.com, as well as local classifieds and craigslist, if you haven't done that already.

As far as whether or not a furnace is important, it all depends on where you camp, and how cold it gets at night.  Where I live (Colorado high country), I wouldn't think of buying a popup without a furnace.  If you plan to camp when the temps get below 40 at night, and especially, if you plan to camp where you might not have electrical hook-ups, I would definitely consider a furnace.  However, lots of folks never camp anywhere without hookups, and they often use electric ceramic heaters.

Hope this was of some help to you.  Good luck.
